The Bookworms Nook
This programme was an eye opener I thought I was doing the right thing by donating to charity But I see now it's not the answer I don't donate much as I wear and repair my clothes until they fall apart and buy most from charity shops But I will think about repurposing them in future instead of donating
Comment from : The Bookworms Nook

Nadia S
There are many people out there (myself included) who make clothes, quilts, and toys from second hand textiles Supporting anyone doing this goes a long way in keeping the fabric out of the landfills
Comment from : Nadia S

kimberly fisher
these people just can't handle the ever evolving culture, but when these clothes are donated they're atleast saying well here have some clothes to wear atleast we can't donate these textiles without showing the people how they can be recycled or used properly these countries aren't garbage cans, it's sad and it makes you mad to watch this
Comment from : kimberly fisher

Redley Exantus
Never thought of the protein tip I’ve just recently changed to a high protein anti-inflammatory diet so I am eager to see how things go Thanks for the video! 👌🏾

Benny Robles
In the 70s we had 34 billion people walking this good earth Today this amount has more than doubled brI wonder how crazy this world will be 100yrs from now?? brbrMy biggest wish?? Just give me 1 day, 1 DAY, to come back to this world 300yrs from now, to see what we have done…
Comment from : Benny Robles

Through Reflection
Two problems here: why do people donate bad clothes to begin with and why are we shipping clothes overseas? I've seen tech that can shred clothes and repurpose them into other clothes I'd much rather companies lease that tech to help turn these bad clothes into profits If we want to ship our junk overseas at least provide them a means to make money off of it

ayodari_style
This is why I am thankful to be able to afford higher QualitybrClothes from more sustainable small businesses I understand that the working poor need things to wear too whether for fashion or function, so I can’t judge them for buying what they can afford so they can eat and pay other bills Especially since influencers doing thrift hauls have jacked up the prices of Goodwill so that lower income people can’t afford them anymore I wish sustainable clothing was affordable for all
Comment from : ayodari_style

Rop
I'm 77, and I was totally unaware of "fast fashion" I've always bought quality classic styles that don't go out of style This video was enlightening to me I suspect fast fashion is most dominant among young people
Comment from : Rop

Teresa Hernández Fernández
We all should become minimalist in clothes and other things…
Comment from : Teresa Hernández Fernández

tutacat
The more bought in charity shops, the worse quality going overseas
Comment from : tutacat

unter mench
It's not just Ghana I observed people going through bales of clothing for resale in Pakistan
Comment from : unter mench

Shawn Gordon
Here’s a solution, just stop sending it there They’re careless and couldn’t care less about the environment Shred it and dispose of it properly before shipping it overseas, at least it won’t end up in our oceans I’m supposed to give up my gas oven and buy an EV though right?

Comment from : Bree

Valerie Rogers
It wouldn't be made if people weren't buying Back in the 60-70s people owned very few clothes and repaired them
Comment from : Valerie Rogers

ichLWmich
The clothes are made by people that are paid less than minimum wage and have no insurance If we pay a tailor in my country it'll be more expensive than a child in Bangladesh That's why the rich countries don't have tailors for cheap fashion next to the store The shirt is 3 euros and the minimum wage is 12 (plus taxes, rent for the workplace, electricity, machines,)
Comment from : ichLWmich

Lynn
paying outta your own pocket to buy product to sell most of the time unable to make any profit and just spend at a loss why does it sound like a mlm pyramid scheme
Comment from : Lynn

Martha Louise
I started a Mother’s meetup group Members of the group starting a clothes recycling group Every week they would go to the thrift store dumpsters and ask for donations They would sort through the clothes and the nice ones were sent to Denver and were to be exported to Africa The ones that couldn’t be repurposed were sent out to be made into rags I guess this is we’re most of the clothes ended up
Comment from : Martha Louise

mattdaddy33
THIS is what the US would look like if blacks take over
Comment from : mattdaddy33

Jeff Palo
I have not bought new clothes for the last one and a half years except for underwear and socks that need to be replaced when they get worn out I will definitely buy less! I will get more from second hand stores Fast fashion is simply overrated and it does not make any sense to keep on following the new trends which is ENDLESS!
Comment from : Jeff Palo

Hans van den Berg
In the Netherlands shops are now ordered to take back their own brands
Comment from : Hans van den Berg

B Boyd
Disgusting how they just throw stuff in Africa as if Africa's trash Even though it's a blessing to some They should cut those clothes up and create new clothes or dresses Either way they need to send that trash back to where it was Put it on a boat and send that off the island I hate the fact they using people of color as machines Because I don't see them throwing that in the UK, Canada or other European nations They only dumping that in color people countries
Comment from : B Boyd

Damn now I feel bad for donating my clothe to one of those clothing bins (but my clothe are generally in good condition and hardly worn)(I have a lot of hardly worn clothes because I sometimes get hand me downs from family friends and the stuff they give me isn’t my style so I don’t wear them)
Comment from : Erica

Ron Schaffer
It's sad to see agitprop slogan clothing (ie, "The Future is Female") end up on the body of an innocent person in the 3rd world That clothing should be incinerated and the creators placed in jail
Comment from : Ron Schaffer

TheAcer925
Some people say Philippines also have this but it is different from what's happening in Ghana Look at how they dispose unwanted clothing, we don't do that and we have not reach that scale of desperation relying to live on waste clothings
Comment from : TheAcer925

Comment from : Kk jm

0:59 I'm sure they answer this but I assumed the material was recycled I've worked at a major thrift chain and the amount of clothing donated is not believable It was piled to the two story ceiling at Christmas time around the entire backroom and this was a large store
