It's crazy how FIFA rips everyone off Basically, this is a lose - lose situation for developing countries, and small developed nations Unless we are talking about the US, or countries with experience of large waves of turism like France and Spain, it is a horrible idea The WC after 2006 is only useful to lift a country's profile, but it is a very short term investment with plenty of downside It would be better to ouright invest those 6 billion in key infrastructure, with private investment adding a 49 so as to increase oversight on the government of developing countries You can do this by creating mixed public and private enterprises and having innitial shares aold to the public which would necessitate proper accounting and transparent book keeping I am glad my cpuntey never got the world cup, it would have sent us into oblivion

I would have to wonder how much the 2026 World Cup is going to cost, I can imagine significantly less than the last two editions and maybe even less than Brazil, as the stadium infrastructure, training camps, and accommodations already exist or have been planned to or have already been built, especially in the US and Canada where many different forces are pulling for their cities to develop, and not just to prepare for the WC but after it’s over Most of the spending would probably go towards supporting infrastructure, with only a few stadiums needing to be revamped some, accommodated for grass turf, and none have to be built from scratch compared to the past 4 editions of the tournament
