Further education vs not furthering your education it’s so counterintuitive because of course everybody experience is different however I feel like it’s mostly where you come from because if you don’t have that support behind you it’s freaking hard so all i could say too my younger self is shut out the outside noise do your research ask more questions and stay focused

I have 2 friends who became nurses One went to a community college and finished at a state school The other attended an ivy league university for the whole 4 years They both work at the same hospital but in different departments The one who attended the community college is married, has a baby, goes on vacation and overall is happy My other friend feels like she cant do anything or go anywhere because she is under so much debt

An education is an education does not matter where you get it from Unless you have top grades and wanting to be a Doctor it does not matter where you go If you are poor but got top grades you can get scholarships If your grades are not top notch you will not get scholarships just loans That is key indicator you should not be going to that school

I am going to a community college currently (with tuition that costs less than 60 of my in-state university), my plan is to transfer to the University of Florida (my in-state university) I get a Pell Grant from the federal government helping me cover the cost of my education (because my dad is unemployed and I said I live with him more than my mum) This semester it covered all my classes, afterwards i plan to attend graduate school in Germany (tuition is either free or subsidised there) Some advice if you are in high school, think about getting your entire degree abroad, because if you study abroad through a US university you are still paying US prices to study in a foreign country, which makes no sense Directly apply to a European or even an Argentine University (The Republic of Ireland, The United Kingdom of Great Britain & Northern Ireland, Australia, and Canada also have insanely expensive universities, but most of them have cheaper student loan programs for citizens :( sad fact for american citizens) A caveat about studying abroad is your maturity level, I didn't feel that i was ready to leave my family and my country and live abroad for the first time I have travelled a lot I have been to Honduras multiple times (one of the world's most dangerous countries Sad fact St Louis, Missouri has a similar murder rate to Honduras) So I am no stranger to travel, but this would be a completely different situation I plan to go in stages My first year in UF, I will live with my dad, and my next year I will live in a dorm to give me the independence I need when I move to Germany While I am at community college, I will study German and continue studying German at UF I also speak Spanish so I can go to a Spanish or Argentine University (Argentina and Spain are some of the safest Spanish speaking countries with the cheapest cost of education) But I thought it would be wise to expand my list of languages Also important fact, Most countries don't recognise associate's degrees so if I transferred to a German University I would probably lose all of my credits and have to start my bachelor's degree all over It would still be cheaper than UF, but it would be more time i have to spend

In Norway people also take student loan, but not to pay school, that's free For living expenses And 40 of the total student loan is covered by the state if you pass exams So basically we get paid to go to college

I'm 24 and doing my first year in comp sci I was hesitant to go college because loans were scary to me But my friends taught me basic financial literacy and learnt that NZ loan school system is quite safe because you don't pay interest unless you work overseas I'll most likely be on 20k nzd debt but ik for a fact I can pay it off in two years once I start working I'll most likely go to Aus after I graduate because they generally pay alot better there compared to NZ My cousin makes around $33 aud an hour as a pallet maker In NZ that would be around $20 nzd

I went to community College and was going to go to a university but the cost was too much and I lost my scholar curiosity So I left with my associates and had no college debt But trust me I worked to make sure that happened(borrowing books, using pirate Bay to get free books, open new credit cards with a get 200 dollars and 0 apr for 15 months, budgeting my food)
