I am a grandfather and my oldest granddaughter is graduating this year 2024 she has been looking around at colleges and we found one of the most cost-effective colleges in Texas that has a doctor of physical therapy She will be the first in our family to go to college I want to help guide her to a debt-free college degree Where can I point her to college grants and scholarships to apply for? There are so many sites online which are good so she doesn't waste time and can apply this year for going to college next year

So thankful my oldest that’s currently in college has great scholarships and grants so we only have to cash flow around $1100 a year for the rest of her education Debt free 4 year education!!!

It’s difficult if your parents can’t help But it’s not impossible I applied to at least 100 scholarships Only got a handful Went to local public university I would have needed to quit school and work and save up to finish debt free though but wasn’t willing So yeah you gotta go through all your options and be willing to make sacrifices

It is possible to attend college without debt My daughter graduated in 2018 from a small private university in Ohio without debt She received numerous scholarships and grants I helped to fund an education IRA and saved money from child support and my income from two jobs The small university was the best bargain for us The large flagship university would have been more expensive and she would have had student loans

I did 2 years at community college free, but i dont live with my mom anymore and have a car note of 304/month(will be donw with it sep2024) Now im ina delemia on how i should cover my cost of living while being in school full time I think itll be cheaper for me to live on campus and having food and other goods supplied due to grants and work study I try applying to scholarship but i dont win unfortunately 😕, still trying tho this summer def applying to mang of them 😅

My son was a Residential Assistant (RA) at his college This "job" required him to be in his dorm room various times during the week, in case other students needed help This job gave him free board and food A fantastic way to save money!

I went to California State University Northridge to get a degree in film My parents were smart and were able to pay for 2/3 of it and I was responsible for 1/3 of it I ended high school with about 14 K in the bank and I was able to pay my share I only got one $500 scholarship But the problem has been after school I have been let’s say taken for a ride on a number of different companies And I have yet to make it back that 14 K even though I never took out any loans That was 10 years ago

lol local state schools cost 25-35 I'm in Ohio by the way Took out loans for my daughter(nursing) used the Stafford loan all four years Graduated with 30 grand in debt Her first yeAr after college was 90 grand with OT Now she's going to be a NP 60 grand more in debt but first year will be 130 easily

While I think this can be great advice, I think it is also important to not feel shame if you do have to take out student loans I went to community college for all of my pre-requisites and saved 14k by going that route while paying it all out of pocket But, once I had to start taking nursing classes, I wasn’t able to work full time and also do well with a course load that heavy And, I didn’t have the privilege of being able to live at home during the process Student loans are a tool and there is no shame in needing them Just don’t take them on without weighing the options or not trying to mitigate costs in other ways

This is out of touchbrbrYes one should attend the least expensive school possible, and try and work some while in school -- good advice But even if living at home there are no colleges, even community colleges, that a part time job will pay for in addition to living expenses, books, car, etc brbrScholarships can absolutely help But the reality is that without help from parents, or debt, it isn't possible to get an education in the US just by working at a part time job

I wish Uber and Lyft was around when I was in college lol BUT, I was blessed with a full ride and only maybe 1year and a half worth of debt I can't complain but I also worked my tail off and got most of the scholarships I applied for Before I got the full ride scholarship- that wasn't until my second year Everyone's situation is different but I do agree to try to do it more strategically

Of course you can go to community college or commute to a state school, but nobody wants to do that You can live in a bad neighnorhood and live in a cheap house, but nobody wants to do that If you are in the middle class, you aren't going to get a lot of need based financial aid It's a strange situation because you can actually go to private school cheaper than public school if you get merit based aid (Good grades and good SAT scores) I feel like this video offers very little real information and oversimplifies the process

Don't forget clep exams and, many companies that pay for your college like fedex, Chipotle, ups, home depot, Coca-Cola etc Walgreens will pay for your pharmacy degree if you sign a contract to work for them when you graduate, Com on guys lol!

I go to a D-1 private college, and the school has a policy we’re first and second years have to live on campus, which ran up my debt But after listening to you guys, I started working my junior year and started making changes I am 12k in debt now, going into my senior year which isn’t bad since the school cost 50k+ per year Just wanted to say work while in college, and apply for scholarships! It depends on what u study It's impossible to go to school without debt unless your a 40 student and/or the best linebacker in the country If ur a 26 student with a good family income u will have debt Unless u stay home and go to community college Oldest son got a full ride to West Virginia for football Two daughters went to Akron and Toledo for BSN programs Programs each cost 25 grand a year We paid half so they have loans that total 45-50 each but they make 60 and 85 with OT They each stayed home for two years after school and destroyed the loans and now they are going to grad school to be nurse Practioners I call that winning at Life
