I’ve seen a similar NGC error like that where on one submission of a group of coins, two coins were mislabeled as the other (a dealer I know has both coins - he was the one that submitted them) Also another dealer here on YouTube (Ben the Coin Geek) has a few videos with mislabeled slabbed coins Comment from : alwaysseekingsilver |

Did you ever find anything out if not look at the case and see if it looks like it's been tampered with someone might have switched it out That is a unusual situation it looks like it was slabbed with a 1881 S over S, Yet there's a O in there thats why I say look at the case I'm not very familiar with the varieties off the top of my head, you can look the Coin up on the NGC website by serial number to find out more about it though Also be careful showing the serial numbers, people make fakes by using the serial numbers There's a lot of scammers out there just be careful, I would maybe cover the serial number on high dollar coins That looks funky though check to see if the sides look opened then glued back ia couple spots Comment from : The Collector |
