Sorry mate, you're wrong here Any company has a right to decline payment The Royal Mint have addressed the situation & said (on their website) that although the coins are legal tender, they aren't intended for general circulation and businesses may refuse them brThe status 'legal tender' doesn't mean anyone is forced by law to accept that particular payment, it simply means it's legal currency You could buy a car off me and offer me a cheque and I could refuse I could go into a car dealer and offer them cash and they can refuse They have the legal right to do sobrI don't like these sort of audits I much prefer the police audits where tyrants who abuse our rights are exposed

Just checked Wikipedia and the royal mint made clear it's not intended for making payment and they don't have to take it Don't know about the rest of your arguments about accepting it in error and changing their minds, I think they can correct errors in law, not sure the exact rules though, but they certainly don't need to accept it in the first place and don't need to tell you because if it's law we are all expected to know it without having it told to us each time, that's how that works, I think the bloke who accepted it was trying to be kind, or cool or something but would probably have been better advised to ask before taking, I know you do this for the good TV but you should be aware that nobody needs to take it!

I've had this exact same thing with £50 notes She is breaking the law (unless it's been changed in the 7 years since I left the septic isle, which is entirely possible given the madness that has gripped the country) by not accepting the promise of the Bank of England in settlement of a debt However the old bill are just as stupid and will always side with trader and arrest you if you don't offer alternative means of payment Thats life in not so Great Britain
