Ollie, si te agrada la poesía de Neruda, te sugiero que leas la poesía de Jorge Luis Borges Es fantástica, como así también sus cuentos Creo que ningún autor ha dominado la lengua castellana como él

Don't worry about fluency just be daring talk, read, make mistakes, laugh, cry, live and learn it all makes sense in the end Out of all my languages (5 in total) spanish is not my best 1 but my favourite one, certainly to speak Good luck everyone!
Comment from : David Evans

I confess I hear Spanish speakers every single time I go on the bus near Waterloo station But they speak so fast! This video is very honest about the 'no pain no gain' effort needed to learn a language
Comment from : bud ekins

Nice! I'm a bit surprised Spanish is popular in the UK, since a large Spanish-speaking population is not on y'all's doorstep Spanish is a wonderful although confusing language! o vs ó? And people say Spanish vowels are clear to pronouncebrbrI'm learning Spanish because all the Latinos in my community only speak with other Spanish-speakers/Latinos, if you try join their conversation or greet them, they will just ignore you unless you are speaking in Spanish even if they know English Most of the people here speak Spanish so speaking Spanish will be really useful in meeting new people who would not want to talk to you otherwise even if they know English themselves

Rendher
The fact that there are so many countries with so many variations of the Spanish language, and every one of us can perfectly understand each other, makes easier to us to understand foreigners, even if they have bad pronunciation or poor vocabularybrSo, Don't be ashamed of making mistakes and try to practice speaking Spanish with native speakers! :D

I just bought short stories in spanish and 101 convos in spanish I was so excited when they came yesterday (3 days earlier than projected) I absolutely love to read and I've started the first story, which I am enjoying I'm so happy I found you brI started teaching myself spanish when I was about 9 or 10yrs old That gave me a foundation, but I didnt know spanish speakers and despite loving the culture and music I really fell off Just recently I decided to pick it back up and I knew I wanted to learn in a way that was natural to me I'm happy with my progress and the resources I've found I am focused on consistency and realizing it all takes time

It's interesting how your approaches to learning French and Spanish were very different, but you were still able to attain fluency My own approach to learning Chinese, when I moved to China at age eighteen was different again There is no one size fits all for language learning! I would say that there is one key similarity, though, which is that we both had a passion for a particular aspect of the culture (martial arts in my case) This has led to a very rewarding “life in Chinese" as it were, both in and out of ChinabrbrI may try your story method for the next language that I take up - after I finally decide what it will be!
Comment from : MaartenSFS

Terry B
Well, put - good to know that you should not take it too seriously and keep plugging along with a good learning protocol

I didn't know your Spanish accent was from the Canary islands, I don't know how I haven't noticed You are the first person I know that actually learned from our accent, most people choose either the mainland europe Spanish or the American Spanish I think if someone wants to know both the Canary islands is actually the best option, we have a mix between both 😂
Comment from : Arai SM

I know this video is about Spanish, which is a language I studied for five years but am going to revisit with your method to see if I have better results However…I found a story learning podcast in Spanish but do you know of one in Italian? That’s the language I’m focusing on now I’ve bought your books in Spanish and Italian but I’m looking for podcasts as well for my trips Back and forth for work

13:50 It'd be interesting to see a survey (or some kind of data) on how self-taught learners use the CEFR Personally I see it just as a standardisation tool for formal courses and exams, so I have no problem saying I'm C2 in Spanish since I passed DELE C2 But I've also seen some people react strongly to that, as if me saying that meant that I was claiming to be near-native So with strangers I'll usually say something like "I have a C2 certification" just to play it safe But yeah, a C2 certification is certainly not the end of the road :)
Comment from : PeRK

Siegnaida Jansen-Gosepa
I learnt Spanish watching TV We didn't have cable so we could watch only what the antenna (looking for the English word) was sending Most Spanish speaking channels from South America were free In the last year of the primary school I started with Spanish lessons on school till pre University Now my Spanish is C1 Next year I wanna follow a legal Spanish course for business purposes Kind regards from the island of Curaçao

I´ve recently started learning Spanish and even though I don't know much yet I often practice while at workbrWhenever I hear it spoken I´ll try saying something simple to that personbrI've pulled back a little since I realised that if they actually respond I can't understand them lolbrBut I recently managed to find someone interested in a language exchange by doing just that!

I am on the "speak as early you can"-side I know that is not everyone taste and there are some arguments against it But with Spanish it worked very well for me So good, that I would without a glimpse repeat it in another languagebrThe problem is not to speak too early The problem is to find a language partner who fits to you Especially I f you are looking up for these in the internet broh, and I should clarify that I did not wrote ionly speaking,/i You have to do other things as well I like reading in Spanisch At the moment I am reading my fifth or sixth book in Spanish (and yes, I read very slowly :D )

My girlfriend is half German half Spanish I am Greek but we both live im Germany our entire lifes and speak both German as well as Spanish and Greek respectively We both started to learn the other person's language and this has been so fun to me until this day I even took a Spanish class at my university to learn the grammatic as well as some vocabulary But having the possibilty to actively "live" the language by having someone to talk to is as you have said it the best possible thing And though I am rather a perfectionist I also do not care making mistakes and enjoy learning (Little fun fact Spanish and Greek share many similarities in terms of phonetics, and hence sound somewhat alike in many occasions It happens often here in Germany that my Greek ears pick something that sounds Greek but turns out to be Spanish :D)br I really liked your video and just subscribed to you! I hope more videos about how you learned other languages will come in the future :)

My best friend (and social bubble) is from Gran Canaria so I spent the xmas period there with his family (ironically I couldnt spend it in England with my own family due to restrictions) and a few more weeks when the flights restarted recently I've found canarian spanish (ustedes?), culture (less touching, less shouting) and food (mojo, cake) quite different from the peninsular As with all Spanish people they're amazingly friendly to any guiri who speaks the language

What an inspirational video! Now, you should make a video about the struggles of learning Dominican or Chileno… I’m a native Spanish speaker and even I had trouble understanding what “la jeepeta” or what “andar a lo gringo” means
