I started to shun the American Red Cross after I learned they were homophobic Now I don't feel so bad about ignoring that damn Santa outside of Walmart come Christmas season A piece of me might sometimes feel a bit guilty that I'm punishing those in need because of the image of the organization, but there are other organizations out there; I just choose not to give to this one

My work had donations for the flood in Louisiana and unfortunately it went to the American Red Cross I was not aware of the issues until the last day of the donations If we ever do it again I'll speak with my manager about it for sure

My area knows firsthand how little Red Cross actually helps I live in South Louisiana, and for the recent flooding, there were many people asking for help in many different forms, like food and water, safe shelter, and assistance in rescue efforts and rebuilding Red Cross was found throwing away food and denying assistance if certain qualifications were not met, which were so specific, that many were left to fend for themselves we as a community had to help ourselves, and it showed us that it is better to trust your fellow neighbors than a group of people working under a small group of leaders not concerned with the safety of the individual

A co-worker once told me his father, fighting in WW2 hated the Red Cross They would straggle back from a battle of duty in the field and the Red Cross would be there, selling coffee for 10 While the Salvation Army had coffee and a doughnut, free "Who the hell comes back from a battle with money in there pocket?"
