I hadn't seen this match before and didn't know who won before watching it I kept thinking, at least Efren will go out as the gentleman who didn't have to resort to cheap tactics I was pretty happy to see the comeback and win at the end Comment from : LtKlaus |
This is so well put together👏👏👏brI've watched this epic tournament at least 5 times in it's entirety Every couple years or so, it's just fun to watch such incredible pool at the highest levelbrThat last 3rd of the match was the Greatest display of Pool I've ever witnessed Efren Reyes deserves the GOAT title brAnd Even though both players have vastly different in styles, there's no denying that they are evenly matched brThis condensed video is exceptionally done and I know how long it must've taken to do so great job mate👍👍 Comment from : Will Stuart |
This the equivalent of pools version of Bird vs Magic or Ali vs Frazier They should make a netflix documentary about their rivalry Comment from : Carlos M |
I did watch the whole game 😀 Comment from : Ezra Getachew |
No one ever will replace bata dor being goat in billiard😘 Comment from : Paul john Devera |
This one is really a classic game This is a battle of 2 of the best Pool Players of alltime And the predicament that Efren got in amd conquered made him the best of alltime Comment from : Rafael Villamor |
I think your video is part2, the rematch with a prize money of only 15k dollars efren won that also Comment from : Elmer Igni |

Thank you Dr Dave 🙏 Comment from : Kenneth Pogue |
It's amazing just how dominant Efren is despite his break It's almost like he never took the break seriously just to give his opponents a chance Comment from : Ziggy |
One problem i see with this rules is that winner breaks next rack That make game less fun to watch, because one player can dominate match Comment from : Byk Fernando |
I never got to see the one the one thing I was waiting for The GIRLS clearing the pockets Comment from : Chris Collins |
From this I learned a lot It´s also sad to see how such a skilled potter can become a douche bag by the way he tried to shark the other player in a desperate attempt It really shows his character It stains it a bit On the contrary, the winner was just more classy and professional Comment from : Logus Graphics |
Thanks for condensing 13hrs down to 35mns Wouldn't want to sit thru 13hrs But even though you condensed it, you never lost the feel the tense atmosphere and excitement of the match Great editing to put the best parts together and make it thrilling This was the greatest match ever played The two greatest champions of this era at their peak battling for $100,000! Played 237 total games Amazing skill and endurance for both Reyes is the GOAT In their Farewell Tour together in Germany Strickland spoke to the crowd and said publicly Reyes is the best player That says it all Comment from : BB Papa |
Hey DrDave this is about my 4th or 5th time watching this video all the way through it’s so great I can’t speak for everybody but I would definitely love more content like this! Comment from : Guy Fitch |
Efren is the highest winning 8-ball not 9-ball champion Comment from : justsomeguy |

Are you the same commentator for the game? You guys sound almost the same! Comment from : Arc Yeo |
Earl Strickland, the player I love to hate! Versus my absolute favorite player of all time, Efren Bata Reyes What's great is that these two legends could not be any more different when it comes to personality, and in the end the better person wins Efren is humble, jovial, and light hearted, all around someone to be admired Comment from : H 7 |
Hi Dave your videos are really good kudos to you Do you really believe Efren is the GOAT I saw the video from Pool trick shots of the Top 10 best player of all time and yeah they named Efren no 1 and also by BCA? Im not sure about the BCA but I saw Mosconi at No 3 , winning the world championship for 7 straight years ? thats dominance coz Efren only got 2 but 70 international title Im Filipino but I think America invented billiards so do you really think he is the GOAT surpassing all the other greats? 🤔 Comment from : Pacman Forever |
This is a great recap of the match I think people put a lot of emphasis on Reyes' 17 rack comeback, but forget that Strickland put him in that hole in the first place In these long races between evenly matched players you're going to have periods where one player dominates If they had gone to 150 the momentum might have swung back to Earl If they played to 100 we already know Earl won by a margin The fact that it was as close as it was tells me they're an even match-up Efren's better all around but Earl was as good a 9 ball player in my opinion Plus Reyes won by 3 and that's the number of golden breaks he had (to Earl's zero) Comment from : Marc Malmberg |
That was fantastic, what a great classic match! Now, I have never played 9 ball, so I am going to have to speak with my buddies to try this game! I have played billiards, snooker and typical 8 ball pool, but never 9 ball, so I am going to look up the 9 ball rules! Thanks Dr Dave, you surgically commentated on this one! Comment from : The Little Signpost Pointing the way |

This would be a great movie Comment from : Carl Arce |
They are good players all you want but man!! those huge pockets!! even my Granma could run out and I”m not kidding Ridiculous Comment from : chevive7 |

I'll never forget the first time I watched this Incredible marathon to 120 games brUnfortunately, I knew in advance that Efren won but I had zero knowledge of HOW or in what spectacular way he achieved itbrSo by the end of the 2nd day when Earl had achieved a 17 game cushion, I remember wondering if I had somehow gotten the results wrong 🤔 and Earl the Pearl actually won this thing??brBut as the GOAT started doing GOAT things and crept closer and closer, steadily chipping away at what many felt was an insurmountable lead, I began to actually get nervous Lol And I already knew he wins but the rollercoaster of emotions just WATCHING this match 😨 was intense I Couldn't even imagine trying to play under those circumstances???brBut the way Efren clawed his way back, never giving up hope, and he never stopped believing in HIMSELF, was truly one of the greatest comebacks in all of sportbrI genuinely believe that one day somebody will make a movie about the Life and greatness of Efren Reyes With such humble beginnings, God given talent and the perfect attitude towards the game and his opponents, he just made it so Darn easy to love the guy 🐐 Comment from : Will Stuart |

Thanks for the review of this great match My 2 favorite players I wish today more matches were played on those Brunswick tables The players could really let their stroke out and more shots available instead of these finicky Diamond tables But I digress Comment from : FloridaRaider |

Dr Dave or anyone can you tell me why earl from 110 went back down to 110? Miscount? Penalty? Comment from : ABC張 |
Dude, your bias to Efren is blatantly obvious, and equally obvious is your dislike of Earlwhich makes you not the best person to be on the mic As far as Reyes being the greatest ever, Van Boening could (and would have to) give Reyes weight today, or at any time in Reyes' career! Comment from : TheEdge - |
I love watching Earl lose What an embarrassment he is to the sport Comment from : justsomeguy |
Wow the match progressed like a story in a movie I saw this match when on tv when I was young and i didn't realized this was so epic Certainly Earl has a demeanor of a villain / anti hero And Efren a silent humble protagonist And he climbed a very steep hill for a comeback and wining it WOW! Comment from : BadassGene Videos |
Guessing Earl has gotten slapped once or twice with that attitude God what an awful player to be playing against Comment from : MV |

Efren “Bata” Reyes is a great billiards champion He is The Best in Philippine Sports, undoubtably The Number 1 sports personality in the PhilippinesbrManny Pacquiao is one of the Greats in the world of sports in the Philippines also but in comparison, Efren’s skill in billiards is just unbelievable and is superior to Manny’s boxing skill Safe to say that Pacquiao takes 2nd place However, boxing has more enthusiasts than billiards so Manny makes more money Filipinos are proud of both of them Comment from : Edgardo simon |
