Being that we're a military family and have a current VA loan I can say, the VA doesn't provide the money for the loan The VA IS NOT A LENDER They are like the "middle man" to say to the lender that they will back the mortgage for the veteran So, the VA may not have a mimimum credit score requirement, however, the lender most likely will have a minimum score requirement When I spoke to Fairway Mortgage in December 202, the loan officer said they were able to work with VA loan with credit score as low as 580 A rep from Veterans United stated they require a 640 credit score now since the pandemic Ask questions to your lender before they pull your credit Comment from : Cookie Mama

I had a question about mortgage I applied for a mortgage loan, but I had told the people to please put my application on hold They said “I have you on hold Let me know when you are ready”brbrI check my credit a few weeks out and they ran my credit They said, “Yes we did run your credit on Sept 13 – the inquiry would not have hurt your score because First Centennial pulled it 2 weeks earlier and all pulls from the same industry within 30 days count as one pull” Is this correct? My biggest issue that has stopped me from being able to actually purchase is that any type of down payment/closing costs assistance makes it so my debt to income ratio is above what any lender will accept I don't have enough to actually pay a down payment Are there any other options for me? The lender I did speak with said that even though the assistance as a 2nd mortgage was deferred, the payment that would be eventually required has to be factored into my debts Very frustrating and I feel defeated :( Please help!
