I'm 68 and never played any instrument My husband purchased a small keyboard for me as I expressed an interest in learning to play the piano He was super excited as he plays guitar and is hoping we can play together some day Super excited My piano comes Monday so, in the meantime, I'm watching your wonderful videos I'm determined to learn to play and am retired, so no excuses about time (even though I am a crazy busy senior LOL)! Tip: From me, a beginner Buy an 88-key, 7 -octave keyboard I tried learning with a 5-octave keyboard and got very frustrated once I had moved past just right-hand playing Though the smaller keyboard was good for midi work on the PC Do you agree Pianote?

I want to thank you I am 57 years old and have always wanted to play the piano I was a trumpet player in high school and still dabble in it I finally bought a Casio Privia PX-S1100RD which I saw a young lady from Russia named Gamazda use She started my on this journey I was pretty much using other Youtube videos in an attempt to learn how to play I was going to take lessons but just lost my job of 17 years I found your video 7 days to learning piano I'm on day six now and I was in tears I can see the progress and can see the beautiful music I can play I found this video and your story about the women learning how to play real music made her cry Yeah that was me as well today Thank you so much for putting these videos out there Your message his home I can do this no matter my age Thanks again

Started piano lessons at 12 years old Same situation hated it old songs like twinkle little star Quit after about 10 lessons or so My sister who played piano taught me a couple kinda boogie songs I mastered but that was the end for me Now I am 46 and just bought a new keyboard trying to catch up and maybe finish what I started

I’m that person who took piano and literally stopped because I wanted to hang on Saturdays with friends in high school rather than go to piano lessons Also, I never got as good as my cousin so, that was a drag I still have the piano of my childhood Gotta get back into it Gonna get to it on my own now!!!

What size is your handspan? Would you ever expose people to the (growing?) idea of smaller keyboards like the DS Keyboard—a keyboard with a 6-inch or even a 55-inch octave? brbr I ask because my handspan fits in the upper region of the bottom third of measured handspans I definitely could use a DS-60 handspan digital keyboard or acoustic piano More people need to be made aware of this “option” More people need to show the manufacturers that there is a need for smaller keyboardsbrbrEdit: The octave “size problem” is kind of like forcing the smaller baseball player to use only the largest wooden bat

My biggest problem is two hands playing different rhythms and melodies, any advice? It seems polyphonic skills are easily wired in young brains and all but impossible to teach an 'old dog'

I too started at age 60, actually three months before my 61st birthday a treat to myself I’ve been taking piano lessons now for 3 months (in person) and am elated each time I learn a new song, especially when my initial thought is “oh I’ll never get this!” Thank you for the tip of “knowing what it is” that I want to play and “communicating that” to my teacher … and thank you for the encouragement! Huge and helpful!

"I know what to do but my hands aren't listening to me" I feel pain hearing this as I've had friends watch me draw and say something similar followed by, "how?" The near instant rejections of start doing it and when it's bad you do it again Many of them were athletes so I never understood why they would reject practice/training of the dextrous arts as an impossibility

I come from a musical family, my Dad was semi-pro guitarist used to back the big stars I was allowed to go to 1 concert when he played w/Hank Williams jr Hank was 16 , I was 14 & trying to emulate my father on guitar, which didn’t work my mother , self taught on organ By ear I did rock & roll on organ in 1 “c” scale I just bought a beginner’s keyboard & just took my first lesson from You!!
