This is how true Americans View immigrants coming to our country We want you to come here and seek freedom and safety Don't be fooled by Republican hyperbole, Americans have no problem with immigrants who come to our country Shores legally or those who come to its borders seeking Asylum
Comment from : matthew 2779

I am crying because I am that American who loves lifting the poor and impoverished person while in the city of New York, I am crying because I realized too late what Americans who ostracized me along many billions of humans were building their worldview around enemy mentality, I am crying because Child Protective Services of America should be focusing on every humans who believe themselves as Americans, I am crying because the original vision of the poem was betrayed, I am crying because the only way mentally sheltered Americans could truly feel this pain I feel is if they today are suddenly branded enemy of the state by all believers of the state, I am crying because current reality is not the liberty I emancipated in mind, I am crying because all the original immigrants of this land are dead, I am crying because all the descendants of America could not listen to the spirit of their ancestors, I am crying because he who read history knows and she who read history knows, I was crying because I needed help, and now help has arrived I am colossus

Hidden message one of the most hateful misunderstood words the founding father of the USA didn't write these words if was for LAZARUS for her own people as a Zionist Jew who deeply hated that the USA that was a white Christian western nation Turning the gift from France into a work of propaganda Alway pushing for nonwhite emigration with the final goal of the genocide of the founding stock of the USA or ethnic replacement pure evil pure anti-white plan as in yesterday's goal as in today goal

MartenThuren
I really don't understand how americans can be proud of their country - a country built on freedom and imigration, a country based on welcoming those who were not welcome at home, while it has abolished their welcoming spirit Being afraid that imigrants will take your job is basically protectionism
Comment from : MartenThuren

Berry Bunny
By your logic, Europe and Asia are continents of immigrants, because everybody came from Africa Native Americans have been on the continent for over 14,000 years The Native Americans presence in America predates all written history I think they deserve a bit more credibility than you're giving them Besides, the concept of citizenship and immigration hadn't yet been invented anywhere in the world at the time they came here
Comment from : Berry Bunny

Berry Bunny
This poem symbolizes the America that I thought I grew up in But no, the America this poem symbolizes ceased to be before I was born
Comment from : Berry Bunny

Comment from : Thenew Glynis

gfbanfield
A very nice presentation, but there's an error The last line of the poem is, "I lift my lamp", not "light", "beside the golden door"
Comment from : gfbanfield

sparkyjunk
Really? That tired, old - and incorrect - "we're all immigrants" argument again?
Comment from : sparkyjunk

sparkyjunk
Sure, "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breath free" but why does it have to be 20 million felons every year?!? And you can keep "your wretched refuse" to yourself, thanks
Comment from : sparkyjunk

Jesy

Comment from : Jesy

James Weaver
My great-grandfather came here from Germany in 1904 with his brother, their parents sold everything they had so their sons could come here I take great offense to people wanting America to be more like Europe, their scarafice would be invane One of his sons, my grandmother's brother, died on Omaha Beach on D-Day trying to take back Europe from the very country his father came from Shame on you Europe and to hell with all you kool-aid drinkers
Comment from : James Weaver

flightrisk7
When people are jumping over fences weather they are 'just coming into work' or are being mules for illegal drugs or worse - this is coming in from the 'broken window' -- people coming into the US should use the front door, not that the door should be hard to get through but it should be used I know plenty of people who have come to America without any problems, as long as they went through the proper channels All I'm saying is if you want to be here, use the door!
Comment from : flightrisk7

NetzKaiser
Is this a "broken wondow"? Broken window is a nice image, but I do not really understand what it should mean It could mean different things And I don't want to say that the USA is not allowed to put this barriers, but I think that it was not in the American idea, which the founding fathers of the USA had
Comment from : NetzKaiser

NetzKaiser
@flightrisk7 Okay I do not know if my position is clear My idea of USA is that everyone can go there, if he or she does not (ab)use the welfar(money for poor people and so on) I can understand that they have to do some formalities(for ID card and so on) but there are more barriers, or? And because of this barriers the people have to try it without visiting the residents' registration office, if they want to immigrate
Comment from : NetzKaiser

flightrisk7
@NetzKaiser 1 - because it is a GOLDEN DOOR for which she holds the torch, not a broken window
Comment from : flightrisk7

Gustavo Diaz
On June 22, 2005, I left Venezuela for the United States with immense pain in my heart and exhaustion from years of standing up for what I believe, Nobody understand liberty If liberty is always with him When a Dictator and criminal like Hugo Chavez become my persecutor The Lady grant me asylum
Comment from : Gustavo Diaz

It is awesome and wonderful To make her dream come true the government created a INS, spent billions of dollar so that people from all around the world can come to USA but sadly its employees doing such a lousy job and making America look bad and tarnishing her image worldwide I guess that's why people think why go through all this bureaucracy, just cross the border illegally Don't you agree?
Comment from : 1098910989

James Weaver
I don't know, but sometimes I wonder if we do
