My friend Ed Gruber had the privilege of escorting the Andrews Sisters and John Wayne to the USS Arizona which is now a memorial to the tragic Pearl Harbor attack, Over 1100 sailors and marines are entombed within its hull which still leaks oil from that horrific day

My uncle was a musician during the '40s He played trumpet with bands like Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey and Benny Goodman He knew the Andrews Sisters rather well He had gone to lunch with them often He said that they were three of the nicest girls that he had met around that time BTW, his last gig was 2nd trumpet under Doc Severinsen with Tex Beneke's Orchestra
