It’s kinda crazy how similar we are at our start points I’m 28, going to be 29 in mid September I only had my grade 9 and I was working construction and absolutely hated it Did some adult school and got my diploma in 4 months and I actually did very well I got a 91 in grade 11 English and 85 in grade 12 English I didn’t even hand in the final assignment that was worth 30 of the grade because I already knew I was passing with a solid gradebrbrI used to be horrible in school, never did homework always just showed up and did the bare minimum getting a 50-60 in all my classes Skipping half of my classes didn’t help eitherbrbrAnyways I got my diploma this year in June Applied to a community college near me and got accepted I’m going to be taking a 2 year computer programming course and possibly a 3rd year in computer programming and analysis After that I may go after a graduate certificate in cyber security which would only be a 1 year course brbrI had no idea I’d actually be excited for school but here I am

Dude, everything you said is like a parallel to my life I squandered most of my talents until the age of 32 when I met my wife I went from waiting tables to being a software engineer for a multi-billion dollar company in just 10 years time Although I did get a degree in computer science at the age of 23, I never did anything with it I moved to Austin Texas and couch surfed for a decade playing in bands and drinking while waiting tables Better late than never I guess

Currently going through full-stack development courses and constantly reading up and practicing I don't know what happened but a switch just got flipped in me at the ripe old age of 34 and I'm fully committed I wish I would have started sooner because coding is actually fun Even the small things I have done right now, watching them DO something is fulfilling Debugging is fun too because you're learning at the same time
