Functionally operates just as it should wwwyoutubecom/post/UgkxiiMg_x4gIWeXMWfBnDdRnME4qJUAva4w holds pressure perfectly when not in use Glad one of the other reviews pointed out that the bottom pressure release valve was open; thought it was defective at first

Comment from : xpduol

kimchee94112
I have the 60 gal Kobalt compressor If you need parts and warranty from Lowe's, forget about it Lowe's don't have parts or service for some of the Kobalt stuff even under warranty Got burned a few times
Comment from : kimchee94112

Ryan Parrish
I know this is a 4 and a half year old video, but it is one of the best educational videos that I have seen on YouTube! I would like to see you tweak it somehow, maybe talk about water traps or something and re-post it for your newer fans This is excellent information that people need to know! I worked in 2 different auto shops and they both used schedule 80 PVC in areas for air lines
Comment from : Ryan Parrish

CS Horizon
Should definitely do a remake for 2023 I just bought a Hulk Power (by EMAX) 20gal 145amp (120v) compressor It has 577 at 90 and 83 at 40 It's been like $768 for months since the last couple years It finally dropped in price today so I picked one up for almost half that which is similar to pre pandemic
Comment from : CS Horizon

Jon H
Hey, Bear! Has enough changed to consider an update on this? Sure would appreciate it!
Comment from : Jon H

Mark Luxton
Has anyone added a bigger tank? To get longer cycle times Is there enough advantage to doing this?
Comment from : Mark Luxton

Mark Luxton
I may have made a poor purchase choice, by reacting to a sale 8 gal, 4 CFM, Mastercraft, for $190+tax subtract Canadian tire money I don't plan to use this for any rotating toolsbrTo use for blowing dirt off of tools and for inflation and hopefully HVLP spray painting Good for a nailer too I have corded rotating toolsbrbrMy mistake, really, was the kit I ordered(not here yet) CHEAP! but I didn't realize how cheap till doing more research My on sale compressor came tool only I should have, at the least, bought a kit without the stiff PVC 1/4" hose As I now understand, using a 3/8" or even a 1/2" hose should work better than a 1/4" hose, to deliver as much volume (CFM), as possible for HVLP spray paintingbrbrI also learned that the material of air hoses varies I will be getting a better hose I hope the fittings seal well I have a kit I bought a decade ago, planning to finish building a compressor my grandfather started to build I used a couple of the fittings to play with my new toy, during the break in, and one does not seal Got this kit from a surplus store 😞 I can see that this one quick connect fitting was not milled the same as the others I assume this is a defect, but maybe this is meant for another brand of compressor? I will compare with the coming kit; slightly less cheap, I hopebrbrI called tech support straight after doing the 30 min break in, because of my ignorance of the operation of a safety component There is a safety valve that bleeds air whenever the compressor runs When the compressor stops, it takes a couple seconds, before this valve also shuts I think I understand its' purpose; to prevent the thing from blowing up if the motors pressure switch fails Weirdly though, there is another pressure safety valve, than you can pull to release air I thought there was something wrong with my compressor! Bleeding air instead of putting it in the tank! Seems illogical what?brbrWell there was nothing helpful in the manual, and tech support(not customer support) was also just as ignorant of how this safety device is supposed to work They found many questions by other customers asking about the leaking air, but responses were like: "it is an automatic control" It is a dumb ass control IMO There must be something just a safe that doesn't wast usable air pressurebrbrI think I got a good deal on the compressor, but not the fittings or hose I should have watched a few more "experts" before making a purchase though Like all tools and accessories, there is much to learn, that should be learned before handbrbrThis looks just like the cheap one I bought(not quite identical but very close): different paint job:brbr wwwharborfreightcom/air-tools-compressors/air-compressors-tanks/air-compressors/8-17-gallon/8-gallon-15-hp-150-psi-oil-free-portable-air-compressor-64294htmlbrbrHmmmmm or Grrrrrrrr, that one has more PSI and 1 more CFM for about the same money
Comment from : Mark Luxton

Kennedy McGovern
Easier way to understand PSI and CFM:brbrPSI is speed CFM is torque
Comment from : Kennedy McGovern

Kennedy McGovern
For 25 years now, I have had a 20 gallon Campbell Hausfeld with something like 4 SCFM Over this quarter of a century, I have consistently run EVERY tool on that compressor that they say you can't run on it I have painted two Jeeps and a Ram 1500 truck I have run impact hammers, and ratchets I have run orbital sanders It has done absolutely finebrbrNow I have that, and a DeWalt 6 gallon pancake for when I need t take air on the road with me and between the twoI can do every job I will ever need to do The 20 gallon is getting old, so it will probably be replaced soonbut I am going to get a newer version of the same thing
Comment from : Kennedy McGovern

Larry Anthens

Maybe I have just been lucky, but I've run PVC irrigation line with 300PIS rating for the last 40 years on my 5hp 80 gallon DeVilbiss compressor and never had so much as a leak I just moved shops and dismantled the system, and now you've got me nervous to reinstall it LOL
Comment from : Rob the Wayward Woodworker

JavaMan
My grandfather ran a shop from the 1950s to 80s I inherited his old compressor, it still works great Only thing I'm concerned about is the possibility of rust in the tank Water comes out just a little black, hopefully just from oil But at some point, I'll have to pull the drain valve out and check inside
Comment from : JavaMan

Outlaw Woodworking

Comment from : Jeremey Romero

Scot Johnson
As a general rule you should be able to produce 20CFM on a 25 amp 220v circuit And you should be able to produce 40CFM on a 50 amp 220v circuit br My Quincy 390 produces 36CFM on a 50 amp 220v circuit with a 10 horsepower single phase motorbr You can always purchase a pump twice as big as you need and spin it at half the RPM If you want something bigger later, you can just add a bigger motor and spin it faster My Quincy 390 is capable of producing 70CFM at 200 PSI with a 20 horsepower motor , But I'm only spinning it at 560 RPM to produce 36CFM with a 10 horsepower motorbr If I ever need more air I could just get a bigger motor and spin the pump faster
Comment from : Scot Johnson

Scot Johnson
I didn't see Quincy air compressors on this list

Comment from : C Croson

I need your help I will be a light user I’m trying to decide between a McGraw 21 gallon for $219 or a Fortress 27 gallon for $349 My bro-in-law is a mechanic and says to not get a oil-free because they are “junk” But I’m trying to stay on a budget and not sure if I can justify the extra $140 I want to make sure I will be able to set the bead on my wheels, which I think both will do Thoughts? Please help Thanks!

Matt Davis
I have the 29 gal central pneumatic compressor been 4 years it’s been solid running air guns and cut off tools running 3/8 hose and fittings makes a big difference But I’m getting ready to to upgrade to the 60 gal compressor because my shop is out growing the 29gal compressor
Comment from : Matt Davis

Karen Stein
A few things to consider, maybe even worth their own video:brbr1) Noise Why I bought my California compressorbrbr2) CFM, rather than PSI I sized my compressor after learning the requirements of my framing nailerbrbr3) Bigger tank vs bigger compressor My use I intermittent, so a big tank is what I need If I was painting, a large pump is called forbrbr4) Water in air YouTube has many videos showing how to get the water out of your compressed airbrbr5) Piping materials Did you know there’s rated PEX? A lot fewer joints to leak Iron adds rust to your air - bad for tools Copper- lots of joints to sweat
Comment from : Karen Stein

behemothinferno
You're the only bear I found to be informative Others seem to all be mute!
Comment from : behemothinferno

DJF 506
I picked up a central pneumatic 21 gallon 125psi compressor for 80 bucks from the local pawn shop that was brand new still, it's my 3rd one I've owned and I love them ive never had any issues, sold the other 2 ive had, couldn't beat that deal especially considering I didnt have to drive the 2 hours to the closest harbor freight and hope they even had it in stock cuz the last 3 times i went up there they were always sold out
Comment from : DJF 506

Steven Bryant
I looked up the cobalt compressor and all the numbers are different than what you show here They screwed up at Lowes, that doesn't instill confidence in their brand
Comment from : Steven Bryant

Antonio Green
Too much nothing talking
Comment from : Antonio Green

Andork Kuomo
How many damn talking bear videos are out here just talking about compressors yet not showing a single one running? I want to actually hear one run to see how loud it is, you must have 20 hours of videos out here just talking about them!

red beards garage is that you?
Comment from : Victor Sanders

BiG BeAR
FYI: CFM is not a measurement of air speed, it’s a volume measurement You can have a high rpm small fan putting out 10CFM at a relatively high air speed, and a large slow fan putting out the same 10CFM at a slower air speed
Comment from : BiG BeAR

Will Boyd
Excellent!!!
Comment from : Will Boyd

froggy
Thanks, really nice video, my HF 8 gal just died after 5 yr Probably get another 20 gal HF, best value for my shop
Comment from : froggy

JayinMI
I bought the same HF compressor as a temporary unit It worked fine, and I've followed the oil change instructions, and everything Now, if it has air pressure in it, and it kicks on, it trips the breaker If it is empty, it works fine Probably just mine, and it's way over 90 days, so it will continue to get me by until I get my 60 gal, 5hp, 2 stage unit
Comment from : JayinMI
