Have always wanted a 28 in my collection, everyone who has one seems to wax lyrical about the combination of lightweight, it’s aesthetic proportions and phenomenal stopping power because of the lovely pattern it throws Yes, you will have to sharpen your accuracy over a 12 but surely that’s one of the joys of this exceptional little gauge

I used to pick up on a shoot in bedfordshire, the boss had a pair of AYA 28 bores he would regularly shoot pheasants coming way above the height of the electricity pylons and usually over the top of the gun next to him after they had missed Usually stone dead Mr Clayton was an extremely nice guy and an exceptional shot

Recently bought a CZ Bobwhite (M1) in 28 borebrbrWow,I thought I had the 'Magic Stick' when I used my 1935 Fox Sterlingworth in 16 GaugebrEVERY Pheasant within 35 yards has dropped like a brick with the 28 CZ brbrOf course I'm using a Brittany to help mebrbrFirst straight (or English stock ) that I have used Gun weighs 5 pounds even Swings like a wand brMy average in International Skeet has gone up to 22 from dropping a 12 and going down to a 28 bore brFor someone who never sees more than a forty yard shot at a large bird, the 28 SEEMS to be an excellent choice,if you can handle itbrYou must be a better shot; powder clays at Skeet with the gun If a person is marginal with a 12, they will NEVER have success with the sub-gauges brSorry about your luck if you're average This gauge caters to the experts

John ,br I've just been out to buy a new 28 bore I was at Malmo Guns, where I found a little honey of a Browning 525 I said I would have it but I requested to check that it was steel proofed It wasn't, disappointed was the word I asked about Beretta, again not steel proofed Are all new 28s not steel proofed ?? If so I'm not going to spend the money on a gun that may be obsolete in a few years ! What's going on ??

Too biased opinions on shells Many variations are useable Not just one weight or size shot All can give great patterns Or poor ones You have to try them out in your gun
