There is no way you cover that much content in robotics you almost cover all the mechatronics electronics and robotics majors in one topic as a mechanical engineer you over exaggerated with this one Comment from : Víctor Andrés Campillo Mexsen |
Well, thanks for all this am just a starter in this field trying to figure out where am up to Comment from : Daniel Emmanuel |

one of the most embarrassing videos ive ever watched i truely feel like a useless caveman right now i always excelled in mathematics, but theres a very distinct disconnect here i run into this when trying to learn computer science and engineering its like yeah you use math and build a robot! thanks, im happy for you, ill just go pound on rocks and make fire Comment from : Rob Scott |
Gonna be starting my Mech Eng course in 2 weeks Hopefully all goes well Comment from : N |

Civil Mechanical engineering 1961-1976-…brWhole life used every course all the time … calculus probably the least brAll were needed to answer all design problems brIf you drove a Ford ,GM , Chrysler in The 70s you stopped using my brake hose fitting designs !!!!brLots of other high pressure fluid products to …!!! Comment from : Charlesr Brandichjr |
Jake, Hello, There is a rather simple physics problem, no calculations needed, that I would be willing to bet you cannot solve It can be explained and understood easily Let me know Comment from : Dune Xapa |
I dropped out of Engineering school after 2nd year and worked a decade in construction and factory jobs In many countries, you need a trade before a profession and this is why I learned SO much about manufacturing by studying buildings and machines while working NOW I have a clear reason to finish learning the math but also a clear discernment about how much "analysis" is really necessary to git 'r done, and done well I'll forever be a renegade, and forever in love with Engineering Comment from : Aleksei J Savinkoff |
Hi , can a bechlor in computer science engineering studend do master in machanical engineering ?? Comment from : Arba The Indian gamer |

I no nothing about maths but I want to study mechanical/electrical engineering and become an engineer What should I do? Comment from : DOM IMELA |
A lot of times the Mech E degree is roughly split in 3-3-2 semesters First 3 semesters are fundamentals: math, physics, chemistry, programming, core classes, etc Next 3 semesters are the "actual" engineering basics: fluids, heat, CAD, control theory, thermodynamics, statics, dynamics, kinematics, etc Last 2 semesters are mostly Senior Design and electives Comment from : im_possy_bull |
choosing mechanical engineering was the worst mistake i ever made choose chemical engineering even if you hate chemistry; it's harder but your job will probably be infinitely more interesting Comment from : BathHatingCat |
The most important one is pure PAIN Comment from : Rein in die Määs |

Damn all that for 100k average salary much respect to most engineers Comment from : Haseeb Rasoul |
I think this can also scare off potential STEM students The phrase "jack of all trades, master of none" comes to mind An overview of a wide swath of engineering is useful, but there is huge value in becoming an expert in one or two areas Industry, jobs, and financial rewards increase based on having deep expertise versus the horizontal problem solver with experience a mile wide but only an inch deepbrbrEach discipline, chemical engineering, computer science, electrical engineering has a tremendous variety of specialties with very different interests and science Diversity within a discipline may be much more rewarding intellectually and financially than the cross-discipline approach you are promoting There is room for both I just disagree with your biased premise that Mechanical Engineering is the "best" way to achieve this Comment from : R Spivack |
Had my first year of pretty much mechanical engineering and I can't believe I've had like 80 of this list in year 1 lol Comment from : Osirex |
What's interesting is that there is no mention of teaching systems thinking (systems science) or cybernetics It's all low strata (E Jaques model) thinking There are huge consequences to this, but noone is really considering them Of course, in the field of engineering there is systems engineering, but to treat it as an afterthought is wrong But to fix it would require a system-level outlook, which make this a kinda circular problem Comment from : Danila1 |
Sir, everything you mentioned except robotics is a part of JEE (Engineering entrance test in India) syllabus at a level that's much higher than basic Exam is competitive tough So what will be the changes in syllabus in my country? Comment from : Mayank Trivedi 2 |

Question: What if I just suck at math? I try and learn but I always feel stupid and give up I was trying to study algebra this summer but I feel so dumb I don’t want to try anymore I’m in college for mechanical engineering, I switched from doing art because my parents are happy and proud of me now I feel depressed and sad whenever I think about how I won’t be able to get a job at all My life just seems so pointless now Comment from : N_Blazingstarbun |

Degreed aerospace engineer here (2013 grad) Honest hard take hindight is 20-20 it's hardly worth the cost/stress/difficulty of getting a solid mech/aero engineering degree these days The cost-benefit just isn't there anymore unless you just love the subject The course difficulty and cost with the expected starting and mid career salaries don't make sense over other fields like petroleum engineering, comp sci, etc shoot, UPS drivers make as much as an average engineer brbrThe best paid engineers I know don't actually do engineering anymore (myself included) Comment from : Caleb Plumlee |
So you basicly get a complete electrical engineering degree as a bonus when doing mechanical? Comment from : KenneyOz |

I have finished the first year now and took half of these courses Do you think it's fast? (studying at Nederlands utwente) other courses will finish at the end of the next year and in the final 3rd year only theses and introduction to finite element method will be left and clearing the 2nd year Comment from : Yaman Sancar |
*sticks finger in air*: my prediction is that once we gain contact with an advanced race, they'll simplify our understanding of all these topics so that you can gain an even better understanding of everything he covers here in even fewer concepts Comment from : story time |
I have learnt all of these in my high school lol😂 Comment from : Abdul GhaniA XI-A |

Well listedbrbrI as one who studied Mechanical Engineering, I studied all these courses And this video acts as a reminder of those moments in class room Comment from : Magnum-Technical Academy |
A good program would have students also taking a semester of Linear Algebra It is touch upon when taking classes on ODE/PDEs and numerical methods as these can be represented in matrix form, but getting a deeper insight by taking a course to dedicated to such a topic is more ideal I would also argue for the third course of lower division physics, typically an introduction to modern physics Comment from : Idtelos |
Can i have blue hair and a ring through my nose? Comment from : capitan von chicken pants |

Another trade that involves most or all trades is the HVAC/R trade Try learning around 10 different trades and tie into one And people wonder why air conditioning can be expensive Actually it’s cheap, compared to the other trades Comment from : Charles Ivey |
I’m curious do mechanical engineers get stuck behind their computer all day? I understand you must design edit design again but how often do you get to see your products after they come out of the machine shop let’s say aluminum heads for a SBCbrbrMy question is how detached are you from your physical work? Comment from : Jeremy S |
The main audience of this channel are graduated engineers Comment from : Super Typ |
I worked as a mechanical engineer in ship repair until I retired in 2020 This video is dead center bullseyebrBSME is at the center of engineering and design brYes, it’s a tough degreebrYes, it’s entirely worth the effort Comment from : mudnducs |
absolutely zero answers to this test Comment from : Arthur Migagomni |
To be an automobile engineer you don't have to know all of this You just have to know the parts a car needs and figure out where to put it so it's hard to get to Comment from : Dave Dennis |
But why do tradesmen always being exponentially better at engineering than engineers?brbrI really think a trade should be a prerequisite for engineering school Comment from : Chris |
This is great Now after graduation, each student needs to spend 4 years as an apprentice working under machinists and fabricators getting practical experience with machines and structures and what NOT to do As a machinist with over 25 years in industry, I have had to take dozens of college trained engineers back to school Comment from : DomManInT1 |
