There was a Los Angeles Times article years ago that featured a family of four whose only source of income was collecting and recycling cans They even paid for their first son’s college tuition recycling cans Many of the people in the area where they looked for cans knew the family and would leave bags of cans for them to pick up It was a pretty amazing story to say the least It’s a lot of work but it proves you can make money on just about anything Also, when I lived in Los Angeles recycling bins like the one that you featured at Walmart are fairly common I live in Atlanta, GA, now and I haven’t seen one in my area Some of the areas in Atlanta have non paying curbside pickup that goes along with your trash service, though

Your lucky or unlucky Your 10 cents per can is probably added to each can when bought Michigan deposit laws is tied with Oregon Here in Idaho there is no per can, its by the pound and its around 53 cents a pound and 26 cents for dirty cans If you have a foundry and melt the cans, the aluminum at Nasdaq goes around 116$ per pound If you sell aluminum ingots on ebay 10 pounds goes around 45 bucks I will in no way in idaho allow 016 pennies for my cans

This probably sounds like a simple task for most people, but it's a job I've never had to do before in my lifetime, as my husband has always done it for the family Unfortunately, due to health and mobility issues, he can no longer do many of the tasks and chores he used to do so I'm taking on many new responsibilities My car's trunk is almost ready to overflow with returnable soda cans and ginger ale bottles🤣 I figured I'm overdue for learning how to do it myself Your video showed the process to be fairly simple, which has given me confidence to do it myself

Our Walmart here in Springfield Oregon, limits the returns to 24 cans or bottles per day, if you go over that amount they will expire your extra tickets the next day!! Its only 24 cans per person per day!! How do i know, they stole 160 from me for accidently going over their hypocritical limit!!! Why I call it hypocritical? Because they are not limiting the sales but limiting the returns! And if I were to steal 160 from them, they would have me arrested! UGH #HypocriticalThugs

We do this for years in The Netherlands for the bigger plastic soda(025) and small beer bottles (010) This year they introduced that you also must return small plastic cans/bottles for a return of 15 cent They also want to do that on aluminium beer/soda cansbrThe small cans/bottles are reduced by 60 by throwaway in the nature So recycling and getting paid back helps alot!

Guessed you were in MI since 10cent deposit Lived in MI my entire life and was until sorta recently one of the only places with 10cent deposit for cans Not really a profit unless your getting your cans free from other people since you pay that when you buy your drinks and your just getting your money back by turning it in However plenty of people hate taking them back and gladly will give them away online But hey welcome to MI my dude!

I Live in Boston area and we have had to do this for years but ours is only 5cents a bottle or can and if you are buying a 12 pk of cans and you are where you are it is costing you another 120 for the 12pk and for us its 60cents my husband likes to turn them in since he drinks the most soda Glad you enjoyed yourself Also we don't have any limit per day for bottle return and our Walmart is not a super one it does not have fresh food just some food and a few frozen items but not much glad you had fun

I grew up in Mass, but moved to NC when I was 17 and lived there for almost 20 years It's just not a big thing down south for some reason which is why you've probably never knew about it When I was a kid, I used to walk around on Saturday mornings at the school baseball park, and pick up soda and beer cans I always made a few dollars doing it, so I had some candy money :9

I am laughing watching you with the cans I have lived in Michigan all my life $25 day limit and hours open only happened because of the pandemic I pray it is removed soon And, yes, while out walking we carry a bag for the people who littered All stores that sell soda/beer with the returnable accept your returns Just the brands they sell however You'll learn where to turn in your bottles/cans Sometimes you have to go to a few places Yes, we pay in advance for the returns And, the state enjoys all the profits from those NOT returned It isn't a donation Again, I am enjoying watching you!

great! we used to have independent ones in parking lots in Texas and when I was a kid we had bottle at the grocery store Those are much nicer and cleaner than the ones we had in TX but I still saved cans and got a little money for laundry days etc

Michigan passed its bottle deposit law in the 70s (I think), mostly because pollution was EVERYWHERE, especially in our lakes It includes carbonated beverages- so flavored water drinks like ICEE are included But not regular bottled waterbrbrThrough the years there have been attempts to add bottled water to the deposit law But the grocery store lobby throw a fit claiming it would be too much of a burden for stores to also take in water bottled But what was the original reason for the law? To Make things easier on stores? Or to give an incentive to the public to not pollute?

Tae in Michigan you pay 10cents as a deposit, you're not donating you're returning for your deposit :) Michigan has had a deposit on bottles and cans since the 70's only carbonated drinks no juice It's not just Walmart, all stores in Michigan must take returns

I used to do this in GA when I had a salon and doctor’s office that I cleaned I rummaged in the trash cans and when I collected enough cans I went to the recycle center (not like your wal-mart) and cashed in They paid by the pound and took all kinds of scrap metal A little extra pocket change is always nice

In NY they had 5 cents return soda bottle places In Fl they used to have a soda can recycling machine for 5 cents for a certain weight However people were filling the cans with sand to get more money and they stopped the program

Ahhhh you have a deposit on your cans and bottles there I lived in Iowa years ago and we had a 5cent deposit there All your eligible cans should be marked noting the 10c deposit They have this scan option so people from OTHER states can’t bring their out of state cans they didn’t pay a deposit on brbrRecycle centers in other states accept aluminum cans but pay by the pound

i remember doing this as a kid at every grocery store when i lived in Connecticut they charge u an upfront deposit fee, so you're getting your money back unless you bringing other peoples shit with you too
