They were most likely in possession of your account number and were attempting to be you online forgetting your password and needing to reset it And once BofA sent the security code to confirm it was you (when in fact it was the so-called Amber Lewis) using you to gain access to your account through the reset protocol I will say though, that it most likely was someone you wrote a check out to or a company who breached one of your regular online payee's website that have your info stored Like your phone provider, cable service provider, utility service provider and so on

I just called BOA about this and they said its something called philshing Its where they pretending to be calling from BOA but are really calling from somewhere eles No bank will call unless the see many attempts to try and get in or your spending habits look unusual Do not answer or give out any information regarding your account hang up and dial your bank The same is going around for information about your social security card hang up and call social security they also will tell you that they only send needed information through the mail will never call Please people be vigilant about what u put on online anything
