I love this! I’m a TEFL teacher and I know that the “conventional” method of teaching has failed a lot of students It doesn’t give them the opportunity to practice speaking the language and to build their confidence when it comes to sharing their ideas I use a similar method in my lessons as this professor — I welcome questions, mistakes, and discussion It’s the only way to grow

Make language learning fun by engaging them to conversation that encouraged them to speak without feeling pressured Maybe a question of "What did you eat for breakfast today" a good start to make them speak Thank you for this informative video though I'll definitely note and apply :)

A really inspiring speech for a beginning English teacher like me who's looking to improve my ways of teaching for those who are serious about learning and growing Changing how students learn is definitely harder than teaching them the skills and knowledge itself but once they understand how to learn more effectively and how to apply it to anything they're hoping to learn about rather than focus on the knowledge itself, that changes the way they look at the world and knowledge It's beyond teaching a language

I wish I had learned French this way! My college level vocabulary (reading especially) is okay, but I fall apart in causal conversation and I can't really get a feel for the personality of my conversation partner
