I asked but no reply but here's what I've found, In reference to, ( another coin site, NOT CoinHELPu,) the claim that a 1972-D Kennedy Half Dollar (KHD) weighing 113 Grms(17402 Gns) is 40 silver According to Alan Herbert's book, A Guide to Mint Errors, seventh edition, a 1976 KHD weighs 1152 Grms ((1775 Gns) with a variance of a +- 62 Gns) The 1972-D KHD weighs 1136 Gms (( 175 Gns) with a variance of a +- 62 Gns) The only way to truly know, to the best of my knowledge, would be a Specific Gravity test utilizing the composition of each coin Comment from : Wayne Peterson
