Why wouldn’t he ask what his interest rate is on his mortgage ? If he’s at 2-3 percent wouldn’t it be better for him to invest 30k at 5+ percent

When Dave suggests 15 of income, why is that amount based on gross and not net (after taxes)? Someone earning 100K he suggests they save 15K per year when they take home after taxes only approximately 70K That ends up being 214, not 15 Am I confused about his method?

Dave assumed he was a good saver, the caller never said the source of his $65K… could have inherited it, could have been a settlement for a slip n fall, poker tournament, whatever brbrOtherwise great call! The numbers are easy to run if you follow along with Dave brbrI’m 38 and have about $40K saved outside of retirement accounts, largely due to no kids or a sycophant wife!

Is it ok to have my rainy day fund in an access bond? Im adding the extra cash into the bond each month to save on interest and I have 247 access to withdraw this at a moments notice if i needed to So its kind of like payong off the house faster but still having access to it as an emergency fund if needed
