I don't have any valuable Buffalo Nickels, but have been looking at Matte Proofs The nice ones start at about $2K Believe it or not, there are proof Buffalos that don't have full strikes People just look at the grade on the holder and buy them anyway I think that in the future, grading services will start listing the quality of strike on their slabs and those that hold out for better strikes will profit My Guide Book of Buffalo and Jefferson nickels lists four types of strikes: Weak, Typical, Sharp, and Full Strike Some MS Buffalos are still unknown with a full strike, so in that case you look for a sharp strike which is almost as good I'd recommend that guide book for anyone interested in Buffalo Nickels (they start at about $7 with shipping), and also the Authoritative Guide to Buffalo Nickels, 2nd edition (which goes for about $16 on eBay) It's wise to educate yourself before buying expensive coins and most people don't even bother, so they get saddled with inferior coins The Lange Buffalo Nickel book goes for about $40, but it's hardback and super nice, with big color photos Comment from : jeffw1267 |

Great video, buffalo nickels are my number one coin, the design is terrific, it shows a Proud Indian and a great Buffalo And I can't help but think about the relationship between the two how the Indian relied on the Buffalo for so many things food, clothing, lard when the Indian killed an animal they used everything they could of the animal, I have heard stories of white people kill buffalo by the hundreds just for their tounges Comment from : Kenneth Caine |
