I have a strange copper penny, it seems that between 2 planchets there was a dime impression onto the pennyit's a 1948he looks like he's wearing a hat due to rim impression on his head and there's a 6 hanging from his noseamong other prints but I can't make out all of it Comment from : Deanne kliene |

I found a 1999 Connecticut quarter it's not a proof finish, just normal finish however the edges are silver, yet it's not made of silver It has slight magnetic properties but not like Silvers magnetic properties, or a normal quarters lack of magnetic properties The coin has a different weight then a silver or other Connecticut clad quarters The quarter appears to be made of a unique metal! It has a ridiculously slick feel to it like it's coated in oil however it's not, it's so slick it's slipperyI'm totally baffled by this thing! It's unlike any other quarter I have ever seen It's not made of nickel, it's not made of silver, and there is no copper in it! It's made of some other exotic metal! This is SO HELPFUL! Thank you! I have inherited my grandfather's coin collection and I've found that he loved to collect error coins They looked like junk at first! Lol Now that I'm learning more about the errors, I totally understand his fascination! I think I've inherited his curiosity for errors because I'm checking my change every day now Lolol Comment from : BuzzingBee123 |

Years ago I got back some loose change from a vending machine which came a red coated dime When I used to like selling coins on eBay, I actually sold the copper coated dime for $1849 I’m still kicking myself for it It was literally coated all the way around, front and back except for a small silver patch that was exposed This is how I desrcibed it on eBay: 2001-D (ERROR-US COPPER COATED DIME$$) The person that bought it responded: Wow so RED!!! I love it!!! Thank you a bunch!!! Maybe I should have had it graded before I sold it Comment from : Brother A |

Annealing is a heat treatment method used after you have stressed out the internal graining of the steel It's meant to relax the steel back to its normal state like if you wind a coil, you need to normalize the internal graining and to do so you anneal By heating the steel and letting it air cool You can make the hard metal soft by cooling in litter for 12 hrs Or temper it by cooling it instantly in water or oil Your coins are almost always Electroplated Comment from : Steven Aubin |
