Plant Lady
I have worked full time outside the home, and here's the kicker - after I got home from my full time job I was still the one doing all the cooking, the cleaning, the laundry, the gardening, the preserving, the meal planning and shopping so I was constantly stressed out, always behind and felt resentful of my husband, which is not what God made marriage to be We finally got to the point where we were able for me to make homemaking my full time job I have never felt happier It may not be for everyone, but it still should be a respected option for women to choose

Hi! My husband and I are expecting our first baby in February 2024 We want to live the "traditional" life, where I stay at home and raise our children while he works It seems that dream is increasingly further out of reach for us But, this video and the comments on here are very encouraging!

I’ve been home since June 2022 and we went to one car right away and used the money to pay off debt I spend time now meal planning and getting the grocery budget as low as I can We use mint Mobile for our cell phone it’s only 15 dollars per month per phone We stick up on frequently used items when they go on sale My husband is excellent at creating and maintaining our budget on a spreadsheet we teach all our spending and review the budget about once a week to see how we are doing As Christians we honor the Lord with our first fruits by tithing and also give to the poor and this ends up blessing us and giving us the ability to trust God completely with our finances God bless you!! ❤

Very nice ideas! Here we prioritize where we spend our money as well We cook everything from scratch Try not to be wasteful with food and household items We do love a minimalistic life style so we don't own an excessive amount of clothes, our kids don't have too much toys, etc We do birthday parties at home like the 80s/90s and my kids (and their friends) always have a blast I do my nails, hair and any "salon care" at home We try to live a simpler life style

The PartTime Homemaker
You're right- him having the provider mentality is key and arguably more important than him earning a certain amount of money A man could earn 'lots' yet expect their wife to work and be unhappy with the idea of her being a SAHW

My husband does not want me to make $ We budget so i have an allowance every month and i use that for personal items or gifts or fun stuff We do not value expensive vacations and labels Our home is large and we are boring homebodies We are happy to watch a movie and care for our daughter🙂 Being a housewife is wonderful but thats my experience My husband takes excellent care of us in all ways🥰

But what happens with Your family if Your husband can no longer provide for the family? 🤔 Let's say that he has a heart attack? Who takes care of the finances in that case? And who takes care of the kids in that case? Should Your husband still keep working despite his deteriorating health, or should Your kids be the ones who need to start working early in that case?

Quick tips for homemakers to save money: cooking from scratch doesn’t need to be a huge elaborate meal To save money, I bake simple loaves of bread, save vegetable scraps to make broth instead of buying cartons of it at the grocery store, and do things like make my own mayonnaise (look it up, it’s super easy if you have a blender already!) Small things like that can add up a LOT, and other things can be cheaper store bought (canned veggies instead of fresh, jars of pasta sauce on sale, etc) See what eats up your grocery budget, and compare costs to making it yourself, and do what you have the time & energy for :)

Being of age 31 with SAHM dreams and hoping to marry my betrothed soon, i very much appreciate this comment section Thank you to everyone who have shared their tips on how to make things work financially!! I no longer have my mother/older females with this experience in my life, so i am pretty much trying to figure this stuff out solo I have thought of things similar to what all of you are recommending, so it must be a pretty common sense thing we all lean towards

This summer, I quit my high powered corporate job to stay home with my toddler son (and now pregnant with a second boy!) I work part time remote in sales support from home, which is honestly how we are able to get by with room for a few luxuries (dinner out once a week on Fridays, can go out for ice cream as a family if we feel like it, etc) I strongly encourage anyone concerned with making the switch to try finding a part time role It really softened the blow of cutting our household income in half (and the blow of completely changing my life, it's harder than you think to switch out of "work" mode after 10 years in a career!) Outside of that, I do all the usual budgeting/frugality tips, like shopping sales and hitting up Lidl/Aldi/Walmart for our groceries, and finding cheap/free entertainment for us I do struggle with jealousy when my friends are all signing their children up for MyGym classes, music classes, soccer, swim lessons, etc and that's just not in our budget right now, but I get to see him grow every day which is pretty special

Hi Cynthia, 🌷br You are such a great motivational speaker! Anyhow, back to this topic We live in New Zealand where since Covid, the cost of living has shot up so much that I went from being a full time home maker, to now working 25 hours per week, which is absolutely fine, but it's still very important we stick to a budget Advice that works well for us is, if you need to go to a shop, let's say a homeware shop, be sure to have a dollar mark in your mind that you absolutely cannot spend over I also find shopping online, for example, buying children's shoes, always seems to be cheaper online, there are always 'sales' links too I guess buying online cuts out the middle man for a lot of companies, which works out nicely us! Also, find muffin recipes and other baking recipes that freeze well, so you can bake in bulk Usually it only involves basic ingredients too Works out cheaper to bake snacks rather than buy them (Well I think so 😁)brLovely to see a new video Cynthia You are positively glowing!brGod blessbrApril x

Indeed, I always suggest cooking and baking from scratch as this saves money, is healthy (knowing specific ingredients incorporated into a dish for calorie monitoring), and helps to boost creativity in the kitchen Other helpful suggestions include budgeting, shopping at second-hand stores (sometimes, I'm able to locate name brands for half the price without sacrificing quality), and embracing the Minimalist Lifestyle (this has really helped view life differently life is too short; pointless to spend pretty hundreds for name brands Instead, sew or browse thrift stores for mindful spending and less dust when cleaning our homes no-brainer, lol) brbrI hope you find suitable ways to save money to become money-savvy as a homemaker I semi-related to your video I had the "trophy wife" mentality when I first transitioned to the homemaker lifestyle I wasted money, retail shopped, and failed to properly clean our home when I first became a homemaker Now, I take pride in successfully completing tasks on my agenda, alongside considering "do I need this or do I want this" I also love retail shopping so, my husband provides a reasonable monthly budget for errands and groceries I put some aside for me-spending but rarely shop for myself as I decor-shop to compliment our home Money is necessary for survival we don't need to have "it all" because money doesn't buy nor offers genuine, lasting happiness brbrGod bless you

Love your videos! For reference ,we have 4 kids Three of ours are now adults I have done coupon clipping, shop clothes at end of season sales, taken outgrown clothing to consignment shops, meal planned, buy cheaper brands, use multi purpose cleaners , book swaps and did babysitting for two years It was something I discussed in pre marital counseling with my husband before we got married We have been married for 25 years! It has worked out great and I wouldn't want to change it for anything Don't let others discourage you If they don't like this lifestyle, they are not forced to live like it Do what is best for your family Thanks for encouraging others who do have a goal to be a stay at home wife or mother I think it has blessed many

Love this so much!! I am due with my first baby very soon and have just transitioned into working part time from home - I love your term “home centered life” because that’s ultimately my goal! I think a lot more women could make it work than they realize I’m so excited to get more into homemaking and to be able to be present 🤍

Love this video! I’ve been staying home since my son was born about a year ago What we did was plan ahead for this while we still had two incomes! We bought a house we could afford on one income, made sure our debt was paid off, and now my job is play “defense” I try to be creative in how to save money One big thing has been learning to cook from scratch, and how to make tasty substitutes for things we would normally buy at home Like homemade pizza with homemade pizza crust is way tastier and healthier than delivery!

Unpopular opinion: brbrYou do not have to live a broke lifestyle or even a super frugal lifestyle to be a homemaker I’ve been home for nearly 20 years Not bragging, just making a point here We vacation, pay for our child’s college, live in a nice house, and have a lot in savings All of this to say, ENCOURAGE your husband to go for that bigger promotion, new job, better pay, better benefits When the money comes in, you enjoy a bit of it and save the rest You don’t have to struggle for 16 years being at home The key is motivate and encourage husband to go up Just my opinion My child is in college and I plan to still be at home for a very long time

Yeah, people have a certain preconceived notion about housewives That it's nothing but a white nationalists movement, or it's bigoted against LGBTQ, or whoever That's not it at all

Women have always worked They worked in the fields, above the mines, in the forests Where men have been, women have often been too to support them, doing the less heavy jobs Children have also always worked until very recently During the 19th century most people above the age of 12 worked 12-14 hours per day, 6 days a week The non-working stay at home wife is a recent invention, it's not traditional

Very great point about comparison being equitable to hustling and basically defeating the purpose of being a SAHWM Great info!!! 💖
Comment from : C Jay

Rachel Smith
I'm not a SAHM, but I try to live my life in a way to be able to do so down the line When you're a single person with a full-time salary, it can be easy to just buy all your beauty products at Sephora, say yes to any activity a friend suggests, have memberships for things you don't use Now I think, this $24 eyeliner is not special I don't like sports enough to spend $100 on a game I enjoy going on walks more than the gym Those little things all really add up I'm not perfectly thrifty and still invest in stuff that really benefits my skin, spend $ on experiences that bring me great joy (like a concert), things like that I think full-time homemaker or not, it's wonderful to respect money
Comment from : Rachel Smith

September Morford
I think the only way to make it work is to just not spend! brI think so much of the reason why people believe they need 2 incomes is because they just think that they need more than they really do (Of course this isn’t always the case, many just simply can’t afford it no matter what!) I find that living frugally allows me to really hone into my feminine creativity, and make things work 🤗 I have learned to make our food from scratch, garden a bit, can our own food, sew, knit, crochet, etc it’s incredible and so life giving!

Amandazplace
Cost of living is definitely making it harder to be a homemaker Our definition of homemaker has to be flexible enough to include "those women whose actions/goals move them towards maximizing the amount of time they spend in the home"brSo, you may have to start out working full-time Can you move towards 1-2 days/week working on-line from home? Can you move towards working part-time?brThe other option, which can be done at the same time, is finding ways to create passive income Can you rent out a room, the basement, the garage, or the main floor of your home? Can you create a home based side hustle that requires little overhead?brChanging (not lowering) your expectations around materialism helps a lot, too Once you recognize that marketing & advertising is designed to make you feel "lack" and encourage spending money to fill that lack, you have a greater awareness and discernment around what is a need and what is a wantbr♥️🇨🇦
Comment from : Amandazplace

I agree I have been actually very devastated and distraught thinking how our options as housewives has been limited now by society - ie the cost of living It’s so hard to make it on one humble, regular income I feel it’s so unfair, but I don’t see how society will change this It makes me sad thinking how it pressures men also to be away from the family and home so much because they likely will need a high level very demanding job to provide on one income brOne thing that has worked for my family is me getting mostly off social media and only following people who have similar values - ie frugality, simple living, etc If I watch people traveling all over, I want to spend money doing that If I watch fashion influencers I just want more clothes I also stay away from homegoods, etc and just don’t go because the temptation lol brOne of the best things to ever happen to me was getting to be a homemaker!! 🥹💝 It is so freeing!! God is good! A verse I am constantly reminded of is 1 Cor 13:13 - these 3 remain faith, hope and charity! I can feel so hopeless in this world but this verse takes me back to my core, what truly matters! Focusing on the Lord, not the world! brIt’s also amazing how becoming a more traditional women I have seen it impact my husband (who is very masculine), but he now sees the immense value of homemakers, sahm’s, the value of children and life, the pressure society puts on women trying to be a boss babe, hustle culture’s toxic side, the pressure on men to only focus on work and making loads of money too, and so much more I’m so deeply grateful for such a supportive, caring husband who doesn’t pressure me to make money and hustle We live a very simple life, but are happier than ever 🥹🕊️🙌🏻

Having older cars that are paid off helps a lot with us No it doesn't look fancy, and no bells and whistles, but they run fine and it gives us more wiggle room for us to have a budget for ourselves instead of all of our money going to bills Both of our vehicles are over 10 years old and going strong with regular maintenance Being a one car family might help for people who live in town!
Comment from : Paige Cochran

Kara
For someone wanting to experiment to see if they can leave their job to be a homemaker: spend a few months paying all the bills based upon the single income and see how that feels It also gives you an opportunity to take all of your income and put it towards any debt or to build up savings before leaving the workforce This experiment will very clearly show you if you're able to do it on your current lifestyle and allows you to evaluate what you can change to make it work

I’m making equivalent to a part time job And we are so happy!

The way I afford to stay at home is the living frugally, cooking from scratch, thrift shopping, budging well, entertaining affordable and creatively and most importantly, learning to be content with your less than ideal situation and making it as beautiful as you can with your skills for frugality and femininity ✨

Gabriella Peebles
I’m a Bible believing Christian woman, wife and full time homemaker Titus 2 instructs women to submit to their husbands, love their children’s and to be the keepers of the home That’s goes to all women everywhere, God doesn’t change, society does If you are a woman of faith, you have to be okay with offending others without having to compromises the Word People will always get offended with truth and it is what it is I love your content but the reality is is that it will offend many because of how society has reconstructed the minds of women Keep doing what your doing ❤
