This scene is funny but its also a master class in how not to lead an organization Keeping your team in the dark and not listening to the professionals around you is bad leadership This group warns him that Jeremy Giambi is a bad idea for multiple reasons, he simply ignores them because he knows better What happens? He ends up having to get rid of Giambi halfway through the seasons for reasons these guys brought up A team that poor cant make those kinds of mistakes

I like that a lot of what the scouts said did come back to Billy eventually, 1) Giambi's attitude WAS bad for the team 2) Hatteburgs home run Because he wasn't brought to the team to hit game winning home runs, he was brought on to get a base hit or a walk Baseball is unpredictable, the most beautiful thing about baseball is that a man that was probably about to retire as a free agent with a messed up elbow hits a walk off home run to cap off the biggest winning streak in a century On a team he shouldn't have been on playing a position he doesnt know That's what baseball is You can become a hero with just one very loud crack

Unfortunately I’m today’s baseball there using this method so much it’s failing teams and costing games because most teams have maybe 1-2 good power hitters that can knock ‘em out the park every up to bat at the end of the day it’s the numbers on the scoreboard that determine who makes it to the World Series you can’t put points on the scoreboard with people who get on base and load the bases up and not have a few players that can automatically hit a home run at every up bat otherwise you’re just burning the players up in the hot heat to outs from being caught because nobody can hit a dam baseball into the stands instead of past the dam second base we have all these skinny little twerp players with no muscle I remember growing up seeing big players who had a belly gut that struggled to rub to base but could always hit a home run
