Not even gonna lie, I hardly look at the prices of food when I'm at Disney I know what I want in the moment! Unfortunately Disney knows this and can raise pricesbut hey, I'm not there to save money hahahaha

I think $70 per day per person is more than reasonable if you don’t do table service every day If you bring water bottles and buy muffins/danish for breakfast you can save even more Getting the resort mugs is another way to save money
Comment from : Valerie Whittaker

Leslie Kayter
$60 average for me for park food day
Comment from : Leslie Kayter

Nimeariel
I usually plan about $20 per adult quick service meal (sometimes I want water, sometimes I want a drink) and $50 per person for table service (unless it's a specific amount for, say, a buffet) as well as $10 per snack On average, that would be about $60/day Some of the portions are quite large so splitting a QS meal (like the bounty platter for breakfast) definitely helps to cut costs And that way, too, I don't have to plan exactly what I want to eat and when- I can just go by what I'm in the mood for!
Comment from : Nimeariel

PinkT33
I budget about $80 per adult per day That does include tips but not alcoholic drinks That will cover two sit down meals, a light breakfast such as a bowl of oatmeal and a banana, and a snack, and drinks such as bottled water, soda, teas, or coffee

Hey Michael! When Dad & I went last year we tried to stick to appetizers, sides & kids’ meals at the where we could mainly because the regular menu portions are bigger & we don’t eat that much Also, it helped save some money I got the kids Mac n cheese with applesauce & a drink for about $8 at Pinocchio Village Haus in MK Breakfast at Whispering Canyon ran us about $20 or so between the 2 of us Meals at Roaring Fork were about the same between the 2 of us Electric Umbrella probably ran us $10-15 a piece

Shawn Trepanier

MossyBro
We often is the dining plan because we've found we often come out much better We enjoy table services at least once a day usuallyjust to get a comfortable chair that has great service and food to get away from the crowds If frees up what you order because you can order whatever you want I think $50/person/day is going on a budget and it's hard to do it for less than that when eating on property

We usually do the dining plan, so it's all paid for ahead of time The regular dining plan works best so we can have one table service, one counter service and our snacks
Comment from : Ann Ellis

Minyin3737
What a great video idea! I needed this
Comment from : Minyin3737

Ben B
I usually go on the premium dining plan, just because of how much I dine in table service and signature I calculate if I saved or lost money everyday and almost everyday I save, so if you are a fine diner definitely go premium plan
Comment from : Ben B

Kellys Corner
We are a family of 4 and go once a year We spend a crazy amount on food, over $1000 for 6 days in the park But we don't try to budget it or skimp We enjoy lots of reservations and snacks as well as counter service meals Part of the fun of Disney is the food
Comment from : Kellys Corner

Jed Knight
Currently planning our first trip to WDW and had budgeted $70pp/day so I'm glad to hear that I got it pretty close to your recommendation

Because we are walking a lot, by dinner we are pretty hungry If I eat sweet stuff and burgers, my energy level just isn't there; or my stomach isn't agreeing with whatever So for dinner we try to go table service Sometimes we skip a breakfast or a lunch-so yes, it's hard to budget this stuff I just know for us we need one meal a day that has lots of veggies, a good meat, and usually a dessert Just to keep our energy level up for the rest of the day At the parks, I can't do lots of breads like hamburger on a bun or pizza or flatbread, my stomach just gets to me like--it's telling me go get some veggies I know there are some really good quick services but those might suffice for a lunch-dinner again, we usually do table service However, I have to add we've never stayed at a value resort---I bet those places have good options for a dinner that might be more quick
Comment from : Kim T

PJ
or you could be like me who gets the deluxe dining plan and never worries even when i get a counter service when i couldve had a table meal

Great work, Michael! You even had our young ones paying attention to your numbers! (and meal suggestions)brStarted back in the 70s taking PBJ in mom's purse to Disney on those one-day Magic Kingdom-the-only-park daysbrBy 2000, with Disney's huge growth in restaurants (especially sit-down), managed to get the whole extended family into trying them out We've used the meal plan off and on since it debuted After years of getting the table service option, with three small ones in tow we realized we'd probably be happier sticking to Quick Service, and yes, we often go during Free Dining promotion periods, as we did last September But we always sneak in a few reservations, too, to pay for out-of-pocket And we use our Disney Visa Rewards earned over the year to cover those mealsbrThat said, the meal plan works for us, eliminates headaches, and lets us know the base of what we're paying each day (if anyone uses it--keep in mind it doesn't pay to use your meal plan on breakfasts--the cheapest meals in-park and at-resort), and there are great hacks, like being able to use all your vacation's snacks during Food and Wine at the kiosksbrEven without the out-of-pocket for those few reservations we make, we easily spend in excess of the Quick Service cost of $5250/adult and $2378/child age 3-9* in our party when snacks and drinks with each meal are taken into consideration [I say this, meaning OVERALL We may under-use that $5250 some days, but go beyond it others, so a meal-by-meal comparison might not entirely balance out But over the life of the vacation it would, especially with the large disparity between snack pricing in-park]brDisney food and restaurant experiences are a giant part of our enjoyment of vacationbr*How I wish this age was raised--my 9-12 year olds DON'T eat or need as much food as Disney gives for adult portions

Thanks Michael! Sometimes to save , I order a kids meal I don’t usually eat the much and it’s just the right amount of food / plus kids meals come with drinks Not to say I always do this , but sometimes I will Also - character dining usually hovers around $60 per adult - which can really inflate your budget for that particular day

Jade
Hi it is Capri we mete at Disney

I think your average is right on That's why it is important to know what you will be eating like before you purchase a dining plan If you are good with eating $35 worth of food, the Disney dining plan is probably not right for you I have found that I eat less on vacation because I'm so excited to do things so actually I eat less than usual (but maybe more snacks 😉)

Hey i just saw the playlist convention on youtube in orlando Have you ever gone?

Karen Cook
I always eat more than I eat at home on vacation! I feel like I run around more and I need more food to sustain myself I often bring food for breakfast from home but do one or two breakfast a trip usually one character meal Usually I do a counter-service meal and a full-service meal a day I like to splurge on vacation! I don't think I forgot and snacks there's always those! Thanks for sharing some awesome tips!
Comment from : Karen Cook

Marie Robinson
we traditionally budget 150 per day for us as a couple Almost always come under even with some nice sit down meals Rarely have alcohol and usually do in room breakfast or quick service Always get food sent via Amazon to resort room ( not included in 150)
Comment from : Marie Robinson

Lori lorena
None of us ever have breakfast and we all want counter servive and maybe two sit down restaurants so I'm thinking about 40 to 50 dollars a day
Comment from : Lori lorena

isadizneymami
Awesome video We are doing the $5 challenge Every time when you pay with cash and you get a five dollar bill you put it way We are using this for extra snacks on our up coming trip this year Average that each snack costs about five dollars, so by doing this in advance you can save for those yummy treats Have a sweet magical day
Comment from : isadizneymami

Angela
I'm more of a single main meal and snacks throughout the day person I budget $50 per day for myself

Going to wdw in April and it's the first time I've been in over 15 years so I'm making the most of it and not holding back on anything!! Lol especially food because the eats are one of the things I'm looking forward to the most even though I'm on a quick service dinning plan I'm still gonna put back around 70-85 for foods I have a few table service reservations and I want to be able to go all in and try the best of the best on the menu's Can't believe this trip is almost here the other day I realized omg I go next month lol

I used the disney dining calculator on google really was quite spot on We didn't do meal plan and we enjoy eating we came within 45 dollars on a 6 day vacation
Comment from : Christopher Scott

Budgeting is important, but when I'm on vacation I want to escape as best as I can and not think too much of the 'real world' I say budget $200 a day on food You won't have to calculate so much and you'll probably have lots of money left over
Comment from : Nom Nom

Steve Corbett
I get the quick service plan and use my Disney Rewards for a few table service meals 🤓
Comment from : Steve Corbett

Sandra Powers
I haven't been to Disney since fall 2014 and we had dining plan (free)included with our room at Yacht Club I found it helpful to know I could order what I wanted without worrying about cost Best vacation ever wish I was physically able to travel again That's why I enjoy your channel so much for I feel like I am traveling with you Thanks again Michael
Comment from : Sandra Powers

Lisa gimblett
Great video! $75 a day is accurate I go when I get the free dining plan and upgrade to the regular dining plan I love the idea that all my food is prepaid and I can book my restaurants 180 days out The food at Disney is Incredible and the 2 snack credits a day are great for food and Wine Festival
Comment from : Lisa gimblett

robert groves
Love your meal breakdown Can get overwhelming trying to do it on the fly That’s why we love the meal plan If it’s worth it or not it’s up to you Peace of mind on our vacation is the cost I look at Keep up your great tips👍

Steven James
I always eat more on vacation! But if we think about it and plan, my wife and I can often share a meal since they are usually huge dinner meals! We try to do some sort of meal plan on each trip It always works out to be a better deal, even the counter service plan for our family of 4 It just varies so much per person per day that there is no blanket $ we can put on it But you have a great base to start with on this video!
Comment from : Steven James

Janelle Elizabeth
Great video topic - it’s such a variable but glad to hear a realistic idea!

Bob Jones
Being more vintage and not having kids in tow, we do NOT budget for food We eat what we want, when we want and where we can brbrWe are DVC, so we have a kitchen We almost always eat breakfast in our room, unless we have a character breakfastbrbrWe have several must go to restaurants
Comment from : Bob Jones

Angie Floyd
I do $65 per day as an averagethis way I can do cheap days and some more expensive days
