Sims 2 is so much more fun to play, because of those little detailed reactions Sims 4 is extremly boring, even though it has a lot of things, but thats not what makes the game funny I mean a mental breakdown and a psychologist comes from nowhere? Thats just great! I also love the cheating symbols

The sims 3 also did it better than 4 I had a sim who had a little crush when she was a teenager, when she grew up she stopped seeing him, she met a guy her age and moved in together He finds out via gossip that she was still in a relationship with the boy and went all the way to her friend's house party where she was at to broke up with her I tried to get them back together but he was having none of it My sim also got the "cheater" reputation, and she still has it now that she's married with kids A bit drastic, but still better than 3 angry moodlets 🙄 The Sims 4's emotion system is just really bland and badly made

ugh I remember I was playing sims 3 w the supernatural expansion pack My sim had Dante as a romantic interest but they weren't "official", so Dante walks in on my sim woohooing w his roomate and they both get heart broken moodlets for like 3 days but he dies 3 hours into the "break up"

The emotions of sims were better in the earlier gameswhich is something that still baffles me Imagine if they had built on the previous emotion systems in TS4 Hell, I still remember when Sims would leave flaming bags of poo or roses at your door step in the Sims 3 or when Crumplebottom would walk up to you an tell you to behave if you were being intimate in Sims 1 and proceed to chew you out xD I really miss when Sims had those fun quirky interactions

i'm pretty sure majority of the moodlets are from the mod depending on the mod your using it would give sentiment's as well which i dont mind but i thought this was bg no matter what nothing will ever be better than sims 2 we might have not gotten alot of great graphics but boy did we not appreciate how much they did in that game water dynamics, moving trees, moving couches, baby items and interactions and last but not least in my opinion cooking we might have more control, and decent graphics but it will never be like sims 2

I think sims 4 is slightly better overall, but sims 2 is more realistic with the initial reaction and the ‘furious’ addition to the relationship It’s harder to come back from I think emotions would be fine if the mood let for being cheated on superseded most all other moodlets

I think I actually might like The Sims 4 a bit better? It's still probably too forgiving, but IRL people don't always automatically break up with a cheating partner Sometimes they do, but sometimes they don't The Sims 4 version gives you some breathing room to decide what story you want to tellbrbrDefinitely should still be harsher though Somewhere in the middle would be best

I will say in sims 4, if your sim has the loyal trait, they'll be constantly wracked with guilt by cheating, and also if they're a werewolf with a fated mate, even if they're not with their mate, they'll get a negative moodlet Makes doing the serial romantic lifetime wish hard

I'm really putting my hopes into sims 5 hopefully we get wonderful graphics, with the complexity and feelings from Sims 2 and 3; and a lot more small actions with other sims, and that it'd be harder to make someone a friend and another thing could be values, so that a sim, even if you were a good friend, would reject your flirts etc cuz they think it's wrong

Naw sims 2 was so much better Sims 4 sims literally have NO personality The emotions in sims 4 are a good idea BUT don’t work well I wanna see my sims angry and sad after getting cheated on not smiling and being happy right after Sims 2 your sims had break downs, they were able to find out about their lover cheating via gossip or romantic gift left after a date As for the moving out thing I believe the sim who was cheated on was able to kick out the sim who did the cheating

It's shocking for me reading the comments because I was really happy with the emotions in the Sims 4 Mainly because I go to therapy and the "cause-effect" of events-reactions made a lot of sense with what I've learned in therapy I also find very logical how their treats affect their emotions in obvious and in subtle ways Or the way that teens' emotions are way more extreme and changing And a happy adult leads to a fairly chill elder I found realistic that, in the short term, a sim could have happy moments even during grief, although they tend to be sad for a long time And the fact that their emotions rely heavily on their actions: for instance, cheating can lead to break-up if you fight, or to a closer relationship if you express love, or you can pretend it didn't happen if you don't want to accept it yet Just like in real life

This honestly just kind of goes to show how, uh broken, the emotions system is in TS4 The Mood Meter from past games was simple and effective, and Sims still had dynamic emotions, but they were displayed through their body language and occasionally moodlets (that just either added to or subtracted from the overall mood rather than each individual one having its own category) and it worked just fine The new emotions system is an interesting concept, but really overcomplicates things to the point where reactions seemingly make no sense at times Reactions are also less "extreme" because of this too, it looks like

I played the black widow challenge on Sims 2 and I can tell you there are so many different ways a sim can react to cheating For eg they go insane, they just cry, they slap the cheater, the homewrecker slaps them instead, no reaction, etc
