I know you teach them Spanish too, do you think it’s better to stagger introduction of a second language or at least reading until they learn in the first one, or do you think setting up a color coded system would work, like say Red letters for language 1 and blue for language 2, or do you think younger children might not handle that as well at least in terms of simultaneous reading instruction in two languages, such as English and Spanish or another Romance/Latin language like French, Italian etc(but only two languages for the child)?

I have confused how to teach reading and the letters themselves are almost irrelevant at the beginning but every educational activity is the recognition of the letter, not sound I am starting this today with ages 3 and 5

Thank you for this!!! I've been searching for a while for someone to EXPLAIN how to learn reading (rather than just comparing programs) I've been a great reader for as long as I can remember, but now that it's time to teach my daughter, I had no clue where to start! I don't remember learning things like "letter sounds", short sounds vs long sounds, etc I'm literally having to re-teach myself to read Haha! This video helped so much!

I taught private school, decoding with phonics only Frequent, common words will eventually become sight words You are right in your methods I also had my students and now my grandkids trace the letters when first learning the letter's sound, it helps with learning how to write the letters as well

Jade is a great reader! I know you are proud of her When I taught Pre-Kinder in a public school, I basically used this same method of teaching, and my 4 year olds were reading in Spanish and English Thanks for sharing this video I am retired now and stumbled upon this video and opened it out of curiousity Your'e a great teacher

I started teaching my kid alphabet wheb she was 1 month She started to read alphabet at 6 months And she knew letter sounds at 1 year old And now she's almost 2, she can read wheb I put 2 letters together She realizes many words And fun fact, English is not our mother tongue :)

I remember finding this video when we pulled my oldest out of school to homeschool her and the ps system did an awful job teaching her how to read We started this at 5 yrs old, she's now 11 and can read at an 11th grade level Phonetic reading is the way to go, i'm teaching my 4 other children in the same way

I agree people complicate stuffI learnt reading and spelling one day for only about 10 minutes by my aunt(THIS STYLE)and I never struggled in reading or spelling after that time
