I would pick the same tractor as you did, but I will say I use a skid steer a lot, and it is crazy how useful that thing can be

Word of advice, Don’t buy a backhoe attachment that hooks onto a three point hitch on a tractor It’s too much wear on the hydraulic arms that lift up and causes leaks

I’m going from three acres of sage brush country to 45 acres of part wooded Virginia land I will be Running sheep and doing hay as well as clearing forests At this point, I’m thinking I could skate for the first five years with a backhoe, a utility tractor and an atv Please tell me I’m not being dumb with that assessment But also tell me if I am brbrThank you!

Still not sure and running out of time, bought 40 wooded hunting acres in a northern clilmate on a seasonal road, I will have to plow 1/2 mile to a hwy, property already has electric, pole barn, trails, food plots, hunting blinds, man made pond, I will have a house built, I could take care of trenching for electric, digging for septic, I will have a sawmill and will need to lift possibly up to 1500 pound logs onto the mill, I will have to remove more trees for house and trails, carry and spread gravel for driveway, and need a post hole digger for significant fencing So I have been leaning towards larger tractors like your series 4, enclosed with heat, the tractors I have been seeing on line are the yellow construction tractors with backhoe and loader like a john deere 310 or similar, any thoughts?

Hard to beat skid steer/CTL and mini ex combination for construction but they tear up yards Tractors with a backhoe are more versatile but they are going to be slow I’d say brbrAverage homeowner:brwith less than 5 acres compact tractorbrbrConstruction: mini ex with a dozer blade for sure Followed closely by a skid but skids can’t dig well at least not in this are (too many rocks)

Kubota if only one 333Gs are great I have one and they can do a lot of jobs those tractors can’t do But some jobs are best done without tracks

The cost difference between a skid steer and a tractor is significant, as well as the weight difference Additionally, maintenance on a skid steer is difficult and expensive For me, a tractor is much more feasible and versatile Skid steers are very capable for a limited number of tasks…tractors are super versatile for virtually any task, and cheaper and easier to service
