Best advice I've gotten is shop the perimeter The sides and back are where the meat, dairy, produce, and eggs are and the shelves in the middle are where the processed and premade food is (worse for you and more expensive) I'll go in the middle aisles for pasta, rice, beans, etc Sometimes but avoid instant meals and junk food

This seem rather dated now & for US customers only, in Europe eggs don't have to be refrigerated as its illegal to wash them in bleach, a common practice in North America Also self checkout via an app is more commonplace in the UK where several Supermarkets offer cheaper prices than cash transactions via the Till

Yup, I am not getting into the store without a list made a day or two before that Also it is more commont for me to drop items from the list, than to add new ones while I'm at the store I am ordering the items in the list the same way, that they are ordered in the store, so I don't go back and forth wasting time and looking at something I possibly won't need And the only stuff that gets into the list is stuff that I found I am missing at home, so basically it's necessary and I really need it

I am immune to the psychological ploys of layout, music and color First, I'm colorblind Second I rarely shop away from the refrigerated perimeter, getting only fresh meats and vegetables or hitting up the Deli If you just stick to the perimeter and skip all the boxed and canned, processed foods you will get the most calories per dollar and you will be eating MUCH healthier

01:45, I was working in a supermarket where I needed to weight the fruits into the plastic with 1 kilo of water and they costed 2 or 3 more, and the fruits contained 400 grams in total and beside I needed to change the tags and it never expires, expired's date only changes, but this product never expires, it costed 1'60€ and the real weight costed 0'80 cents or less

I personally disagree with this advice I don't think a grocery store is the best place to save money - when I do that I always end up getting takeout WAY more (I mean, I can get a beautiful ribeye steak for $8 or a shitty plate of takeout food for $15) So what I do is go to the grocery store hungry and get whatever the hell I want, which helps because I make realistic choices about what I want when I'm hungry rather than excessively healthy/optimistic things that often get wasted It's good to have a list so you can have a good few meals planned but I don't see anything wrong with impulse purchases brbrBut I'm frugal to a fault (I bet a lot of people watching this channel are) so I often have to compensate in the other direction

Yep, I keep a list and plan my meals for the week so I only get what I need or restock on the essentials Another tip is try to get everything from that section of the store while you’re there so you don’t backtrack later to try to find it (might add more junk and you may forget what you needed to buy)
