Translation studies is not about learning a language because you don't translate words, but concepts Actually, translation students are supposed to already know the foreign language(s) when they start their studies And just because someone is "bilingual" it doesn't mean that person can translate properly, give them a technical text and you'll see what I´m talking about

I think it depends very much where you are, he says this way because he is American, need to save for years to get an education In Sweden for example you are paid to study, it’s a completely different world, where the first 3 degrees you mentioned are actually not that hard to find a job in the field ( ofc learning Swedish helps a lot) whole Europe basically if you have minimum a masters in art history for example you can easily find a job in so many places

I majored in communications lol but I chose the public relations track so I'm doing relatively alright This job I just took pays 6 figures but it's a tough industry I think what you said about psychology could also be said about a few science degrees too unless those people plan to continue with higher education I know plenty of people with chemistry, biology, and even math related degrees who have a hard time finding a job because most of the money jobs require a masters or PhD

And it was only a first year subject A friend almost got kicked out of her architecture degree course because she could not pass (first year) art history
