This is not NEW tech! Why the outrageous pricing? Comment from : stan Lee |
Why is the actual image so small compared to the frames circumference? For $90000 it should be the dimension space of the frame It needs to depict art hanging on my wall Might as well buy a 40 or 55 inch flat screen Comment from : stan Lee |
Are the old car pictures from Cuba? 🇨🇺 Comment from : Beatriz Torres |
Its not even 35 inch, Comment from : Hot 4 You |
The dependence on internet is the down thing for this It should just be a monitor that has an app init that can read micro SD picture and put it in slideshow And yes, battery operated You turn it on only when you want, to save the battery Comment from : Gardo Fuentes |
for 900 bucks u should be able to flip and flop reorder and size em upallldatlooks great but what it doesnt have sounds frustratingbullshit really if ya think about it Comment from : iLL fATheR |
I think the company might be gone Comment from : Jayehuu |
“I had to separately grade the screen so my hand defines physics” doesn’t even make any sense lol Comment from : Anonymous |
I'd like to see the real frame without the editing part you can see that there is an overlay when he put his hand on the picture you can see that the image is edited to look goodbrbrWatch 0:49 seconds you can see his transparent hands haha Comment from : Nolra08 |

Hey Tony, I just stumbled upon this review of the Memento SmartframebrI went to their website to check it outbrThe website is still up and running, but all their items say out of stockbrI can't find any updates that say whether or not they are still in businessbrYour Amazon link for the USA Amazon does not ship to CanadabrI called a couple of their listed re-sellers in Canada, but no one has this item anymorebrTheir Facebook page hasn't had much activity lately, and folks are asking if they are still aroundbrbrDo you guys know if this product is still available anywhere? Comment from : Louis Gallant |
Does it play sound? Comment from : mark gallegos |
wow Comment from : Mohammad MH |
is it just like a tv? Comment from : Rafa Mudó |
This review would have been more useful if you bdidn't/b grade the screen separately How are we to judge how well the screen blends into the environment (rather than just looking like a bright, backlit screen in a frame) if you've graded it differently in post? Comment from : Chaos215bar2 |
Samsung's "The Frame" TV is excellent too but it's a also a 4K tv and costs way more Comment from : James Park |
Love your bird shots! Comment from : A Matter Of Perception |
does it need to be charged? Comment from : Wombat |
it's nice but expensive ! you can buy a smart tv and set your tablet or phone to a Pic frame mode Comment from : Quique Alejo |
Nice idea Looks good I saw one in Montreal The creators are 2 Engineers from Quebec The wiring dependancy is a limiting factor for me flat wire or not, you still see it and looks bad After spending over 1000$ on something it better be perfect Not being able to control remotely is also a big negative Get on it Memento! Comment from : P Raker |
Wonder if it could be configured vertically? Comment from : Chris Summers |
What a terrible advertisement Was the display so bad that you felt you needed to fake it in post production? Comment from : Magnus Hedemark |
Looks very elegant Will buy Thanks! Comment from : Legionere |
My question is if this frame can stay turn on all the time the 24 hours? Comment from : Beatriz Padilla |
Did you have to overlay a picture to the frame in post processing? Comment from : Bernt Olov Hellström |
An away schedule can be applied to everyday of the week, you don't need to configure seven of them to cover the entire week Comment from : Stephane Leblanc |
Very interested in a product similar to this that will work "remotely" in the house of non-techy people (ie grandmother, mother, etc) Would be great if it was connected to a Flickr album or Google Photos album so that I could push images to the cloud to that particular album and they would appear in the image frame from any app easily or manually uploaded from LightroombrbrFor myself as someone mentioned would love frame to have motion sensor and also allow remote control from something like Samsung SmartThings (and for those with Wink - Wink Hub) Smart Things tracks when people are present in the house or the room and would allow turning off the picture frame when nobody is in-housebrbrFinally, definitely 4k video support is needed, may be without sound, but would allow to throw short clips together and push to the frame (motion pictures)brbrBought multiple digital picture frames over the years, but all of them sucked in software department and tried to re-invent the wheel or impose some arbitrary constraints Comment from : Sergei Mutovkin |
funny stuff, but what about these vertical photos? Comment from : Xizhe Cheng |
Tony is one butter smooth mo-fo Comment from : JR |
At 20s you say your hand defines physics; I assume you meant defied physics Comment from : David Griffin |
wish it could double up as a TV for 900 bucks!!! Comment from : Ankit Verma |
Thank you Tony for giving out the price at the beginning Most reviewers aren't that thoughtful At the price of a Sony A6300, that might be steep for those whose incomes that are not 6 figures Comment from : sjs |
Tony excellent review One thing I'd like to know - did you notice how much heat this frame puts out? Comment from : Dekker Lundquist |
Been thinking to build my own HD or UHD, plus want to have video But this is esentially what I was going to make wonder what monitor manufacture? Internal scaler? IPS? 3:2(hmmmm?) etc, very minimum specs listed on website & B&H Comment from : Daniel Burke |
Nay! Comment from : Glenn Johnson |
Hi Tony, would you be able to explain how the crop factor also applies to T stops, and not just F Stops As a basic example, the Canon 17-55 f28 EFS has a T stop of 36 Would I apply the same 16/15x crop factor over the T as well? If it is so, could you make a new video talking about it, that instead of just looking at the F stop, we should also look at the actually T stop (which can be much higher) to see how dark actually a lens can be? I believe it will become now a great topic as sony released a new 100mm f28 t56 I saw one of your videos where you shared a link that we could send emails to you regarding nerds questions like this one, but i've forgot it Cheers from Brazil! Comment from : Nicholas Rodriguez |
Every time I finish watching one of your videos I'm left with the over whelming wish that you were President Excellent explanation, presentation the right amount of nerd, knowledge and nuance Comment from : Graham Morphey |
Moving an outlet up isn't hard but you might need a licensed electrician, depending on local codes Comment from : Manicsar |
Interesting --- Like you said, it's a Nerds picture frame! A rich nerds picture fram Also as you pointed out --- Major downsides: price, have to have WiFi, and you have to have a power cord brbrIt'll be interesting to see if they ever come out with a battery powered B&W e-ink picture frame (GIANT Kindle) Comment from : Mike E Gadget Tech |
what is the maximum time a picture will be shown ? can one fi have the same picture for 24h ? or even more ? Comment from : michael raes |
At 7:40, you mentioned it crashed and you had to unplug it, so that maybe adding a plug behind the frame wouldn't be the best solution to the visible cord One thing you could do is add a switch - either a light switch, that controls the new plug, or something smaller and hidden so kids don't turn it on and off all the time Comment from : Matrim Cauthon |
Think those TV makers really should be considering this application as a focus rather than thinking it's too niche Comment from : Chou Chong |
I'm thinking this might be good for my astronomy photos as they look devine backlit Comment from : Owain Robey-Turner |
It should have an SD card slot and just read from that Why so complicated? Comment from : canturgan |
I guess I could watch this and be chill Although the price does not make me feel chill Comment from : Chris B |
Tony, you can go to the hardware store, and get wall plates where you can put the wire in the wall behind the picture and drop the wire down the wall and back out another plate and plug the cord in the outlet By doing this the wire will not show and you don't need a electrician Comment from : Todd Roy |
Hi Tony, I am at a last What is digital picture, please do explain Comment from : Amya Rae |
I am surprised with digital pictures being so popular/technology being so prevalent and start up $ being more readily available that there are not more suppliers/companies providing this sort of product - how hard can it be to have a high resolution flat screen with access to WIFI to access a server with edited pictures streaming to it - with a product priced at $800 it should have a lot more capable that the one demonstrated - maybe Memento Electronics think that the Photographic customers can handle this price when they are buying cameras & $5000+ there distributor outlets seem to be mainly specialist camera shops mementosmartframecom/retailers Comment from : Philip Cleobury |
Tony - something you didn't mention in the review is that unlike a 4k TV, the Memento has a 3:2 aspect ratio, which is the native aspect ratio for APS-C & full frame sensors so, friendlier for anyone who shoots with those formats Comment from : Peter Jacoby |
3240x2160 is NOT 4K :/ Comment from : Mike Heller |
Why do a review without discussing price? For most of pricing is ultimately going to be the deciding factor in whether or not we purchase one these Comment from : Jeremy K |
Tony, can you review the Sony a99ii w/ the Tammy 150-600mm g2? Particularly interested on how that combo compares against the d500/7d ii for wildlife, thx XD Comment from : chucky greeny |
We are building a house and I had a plug installed on a wall for this very purpose However, in my space I will need to have a frame that is portrait oriented instead of landscape There are several available option for that, but they all are smaller than what I am looking for So I am waiting for the the "Depict" Frame which is supposed to be released early this year It is designed to be used in portrait or landscape mode and it is a 50" display It also supports video files Comment from : Ben Deckert |
I have a 20 inch version of this at home and we all just love it, such a good way to view all your photos Comment from : adrian faulkner |
$800 is ridiculous I can buy a 35" LCD TV at Walmart for under $200 and use it to watch TV and when I'm not watching, it can display pictures Comment from : William Statt |
Thanks for the review! It seems very honest to me and I like that Comment from : Maximilian B |
I can tell Tony has a good sense of style, I am litterlary wearing the exact same sweater as him when watching this Comment from : Marcus Tideberg |
Why not give one to your grandmother and remotely access her computer to change the photos? I used to use LogMeIn until they started to charge for it but I remember it being quite useful in college when I forgot to move a file from my desktop to my school laptop Maybe Microsoft's remote desktop program might work as well but I never figured out how to use it from a separate network Comment from : ryank720 |
seems overpriced for a digital picture frame Comment from : Mikhail Lastname |
does it play video? this would be great as a tv with a good sound system Comment from : Francisco |
