Hello thank you so much for the informative video- I am trying to access the value of a 1959 20 pesos gold coin (exactly like in the video- no discoloration) I know that it can't be a restrike because my grandmother wore it on special occasions in the 1960's The strange thing is there is no lettering on the edge of the coin Does anyone know how this affects the value and what the value therefore would be? Thanks! Comment from : deannamaganias com |

I did read that the restrike has a few different finishes and that many were minted beyond 1959 with the 1959 date I got one from a really good apmex/ebay/ebucks deal Another interesting fact is that many of these were not minted in Mexico Matter of fact, I cant spot the mexico mint mark on that coin Comment from : halfdollar1 |

The discoloration are copper spots All gold coins can develop copper spots I've seen copper spots on 90, 917, and 9999 gold Copper spots are common on gold Pandas Which is ironic, considering that Pandas are 24 karat gold When a gold coin is minted, the dies deposit impurities onto a coin's surface The impurities react with the air, forming the spots That explains why even the purest gold coins can form spots Comment from : MrMonkeySwag96 |

Red spots are common on gold my friend, it's like milkspots on silver Sodium bicarbonate, tinfoil and hot water takes it right off if u want to try it If you're not interested in grading your coins it does not damage the coins and restores their eye appeal Comment from : KnightRider69 |
|
