Hi Steve, This is a great video and my favorite one or yours I've watched so far I am really curious if you know anything about Dr Hans Selye who was an endocrinologist that studied stress He developed the General Adaptation Syndrome, which was an explanation of how our bodies respond to physical stress However, he later created a whole theory of life around this and I believe language learning is just one example I think you would find his writings very interesting

I love your idea of having google hangouts with LingQ learners and people that are interested in the learning language subject, keep more coming I love this technology of google+ and i really like the idea of polyglot gatherings and people in google+

Marcelo, you can find speaking partners in other free sites, like italki *dot* com or sharedtalk *dot* com They won't give you reports like lingq tutors do, but it's a way to practice

This is my case I can understand the whole video The lingq has helped me in my listening skills in short time It seems magic However, I never talked to anyone in English Even though I can talk with a tutor on Lingq, but I got some problems with money nowadays But I go on my studies on lingq site

I'm learning Japanese still, based on a 5-7 hour a day learning schedule How long do you think it'll take me to become fluent, or atleast till i can understand movies or anime?

I have used Assimil for Russian and Korean To me it is just content I just listen and read The Russian course was interesting, the Korean boring I do not like the fact that you have to refer to translations for meaning than having a glossary where you can find the individual words you need I find most of their explanatory notes not very useful, and don't do exercises To me they are expensive for what they offer, at least for my learning style

That is always the dilemma I guess I will eventually but for now I am still curious about new languages I enjoy that feeling when I break the comprehension barrier

What you say right around 6:00 - 7:00 sits very true with me I started french in high school, and I am hoping to teach it (and maybe other languages, depending on my ambition) In America we take such a speak-first approach that even now my comprehension is far lower than I wish it was

Your English is flawlessI would only learn Latin if I were genuinely interested in it for its own sake You have Spanish, and that is much closer to the other Romance languages than Latin I would treat Latin as a separate exercise Not too many Latin speakers around You can find Latin audio with transcripts at LingQ by the way
