Steve, from just listening to this video I've come to find the one thing I'm lacking in life Something that I've been lacking for a long time That something is a goal I'm starting to see how a goal will play into not only life itself, but also in the smaller things I do each day Thanks Steve Comment from : Jacob Thompson |

Hi Steve,
This is a great video and my favorite one or yours I've watched so far I am really curious if you know anything about Dr Hans Selye who was an endocrinologist that studied stress He developed the General Adaptation Syndrome, which was an explanation of how our bodies respond to physical stress However, he later created a whole theory of life around this and I believe language learning is just one example I think you would find his writings very interesting Comment from : Kyle Fitzgibbons |

Listen to things that interest you, where you have access to the text, or at least understand most of it, and listen to voices you like Comment from : Steve Kaufmann - lingosteve |

Marcelo, you can find speaking partners in other free sites, like italki *dot* com or sharedtalk *dot* com They won't give you reports like lingq tutors do, but it's a way to practice Comment from : Postal Blue |
This is my case I can understand the whole video The lingq has helped me in my listening skills in short time It seems magic However, I never talked to anyone in English Even though I can talk with a tutor on Lingq, but I got some problems with money nowadays But I go on my studies on lingq site Comment from : Kia Mozartoz |

It becomes harder and harder to find the time to enjoy them Comment from : Steve Kaufmann - lingosteve |

I look at languages as a collection of patterns, patterns which sooner or later, our brains get a sense of, although never quite perfectly I am still in the foggy stage with my Korean, but things will clear up, I know Comment from : Steve Kaufmann - lingosteve |
I wonder if your brain can *overload* with learning too many languages? probably not though Comment from : Hastati-390 |
I have people to talk to, I just don't have the time I have also started learning Korean Comment from : Steve Kaufmann - lingosteve |
We are on a similar wave length although we may differ in details The main thing is to enjoy the process That way the results will be a bonus Comment from : Steve Kaufmann - lingosteve |
Movies will take a long time, years I have no idea about anime Comment from : Steve Kaufmann - lingosteve |
I'm learning Japanese still, based on a 5-7 hour a day learning schedule How long do you think it'll take me to become fluent, or atleast till i can understand movies or anime?
Comment from : Darkyin |
I have used Assimil for Russian and Korean To me it is just content I just listen and read The Russian course was interesting, the Korean boring I do not like the fact that you have to refer to translations for meaning than having a glossary where you can find the individual words you need I find most of their explanatory notes not very useful, and don't do exercises To me they are expensive for what they offer, at least for my learning style Comment from : Steve Kaufmann - lingosteve |
Hey Steve, what do you think about Assimil?
Do you think it's a good resource? Comment from : Emil |
Thanks y gracias Love you country which I have visited many many times Comment from : Steve Kaufmann - lingosteve |
Regards from Spain! Comment from : Guillermo Perrino |
Great Steve I'm amazed by you I'm consider myself a kenner of languages as well The key thing is How to get a balance in order to improve all the skills that you've already mentioned? What about the listening? I mean, when you are a beginner Comment from : Guillermo Perrino |

I have seen a number of Czech movies including ones by Sverak, and bought a book and audio book by him I enjoy Czech movies Comment from : Steve Kaufmann - lingosteve |
That is always the dilemma I guess I will eventually but for now I am still curious about new languages I enjoy that feeling when I break the comprehension barrier Comment from : Steve Kaufmann - lingosteve |
Quite the contrary I am very enthusiastic and pleased about my Czech and what I have achieved in a little more than one year I read and understand serious content Comment from : Steve Kaufmann - lingosteve |
This was sad, we can tell you're feeling down about how much you've invested into Czech and what you haven't gotten out of it so far Comment from : Gabe Stephen |
if you want to practise your languages, change your phone language, computer language, google, tablets, etc Comment from : HNAlex |
Just an idea
What about stopping learning more languages and just improve the ones you have? Comment from : gregg4 |
Steve, do you think that a C1 level means fluency? Comment from : Leandro Macedo |
What you say right around 6:00 - 7:00 sits very true with me I started french in high school, and I am hoping to teach it (and maybe other languages, depending on my ambition) In America we take such a speak-first approach that even now my comprehension is far lower than I wish it was Comment from : ¡Yo$oyChris! |

Your English is flawlessI would only learn Latin if I were genuinely interested in it for its own sake You have Spanish, and that is much closer to the other Romance languages than Latin I would treat Latin as a separate exercise Not too many Latin speakers around You can find Latin audio with transcripts at LingQ by the way Comment from : Steve Kaufmann - lingosteve |
