I was at work at Woolworths in Watertown, NY When I heard the news, all I could think about was that my two nieces had seen this live on TV at Wiley school I didn't see it until that evening Yes, my nieces did see it and were pretty traumatized, but it wasn't like today where the school would have counselors available next day In 1986, you just sucked it up and soldiered on Comment from : Marie Katherine |

I love the way they say they conduct experiments for benefit of mankind when they were really spying on the Soviets! It's amazing they used the same boosters instead of using one piece types after the Challenger disaster It was a very risky business but the US spent billions to stay ahead of the space game It was a genius idea but still slapped together and unfortunately two disasters claimed 14 lives Comment from : KRAZEEIZATION |

What is so sad is the new fuel caused the ice formations that fell on the shuttles afterwards and caused the Columbia disaster Those ice buildups were not present on the original SRB's It was stupid to launch that day, I was wearing a jacket watching the launch 😢 Comment from : strgazerlilly |
WTF? 4 million pounds? in your sick dreams, lamers PUKE like a NUKE Comment from : Zdzichu S |
seeing this makes me realize that NASA is smart enough to learn from its mistakes but what doesnt add up is the mismanagement that led up to the columbia disaster, but i guess that was a hard one to solve because sending a rescue ship to retrieve the STS-107 crew and possibly fix the hole that was in Columbia's left wing Still shameful the other three orbiters were retired, oh well Comment from : mario2202 |
What i don't get is if Florida which is a winter sun escape for all the old retireries, and in late january the 28th I would not expect the temperature to drop below 50'F ever How can florida be named the sunshine state its obviously woefully misleading Maybe NASA should use some of there rocket science by using a thermometer, and move to california the golden state, again probably no gold there but at least its still burning hot in January Comment from : Nealio |

The incredibly poor video quality of these productions (at least those aired here) speak volumes of our technical progress over the years By extension, it's a wonder any of these shuttles ever got off the ground B&W film clips of horse drawn cabbies early 1900s NY look great by comparison What gives? Comment from : William Larson |
Wouldn't it have been more cost efficient to just repave the runway at Kennedy, instead of designing a craft to cope with its shittiness? Comment from : Duneenzo |
