Not all buyers can take advantage of the tax incentive, so lowering the price is actually better Comment from : T455 |
How can I get that CR sign in the background Jen? Comment from : Darion Fox |
After listening to your comments about the Bolt EV/EUV, you guys can make more efforts to sound impartial I would stop short of saying you guys are partial against GM brands, but jeez you guys can definitely do a better job at being impartial brTake a look at 2022 Bolt EV's interior again Its a totally different design language than the 2021 Bolt EV's You call that 'nip and tuck'? Really? SMH Comment from : Kuldip Kalushe |
Already a couple of recalls out for the Bronco Sport & it’s just been released Not a good start Comment from : Robert Blaney |

Just call “all season” tires 3 season tires, to avoid confusion Comment from : The Queens Half Corgi |
I'm curious what Consumer Reports thinks the range for an EV should be these days Edmunds' February 9th "real world" comparison showed the 2020 Bolt getting 277 miles, while the 2020 Tesla Model Y Performance got 263 miles (the more expensive Model S and Model X had higher ranges) Their testing showed that the EPA rating isn't always indicative of the real world Comment from : timdsd |
Yeah I wonder if people conflate "all weather" with "all season" because the names are similar Perhaps a different name, like multi-condition or multi-weather would have helped? (And honestly the bigger problem is that all seasons is more like 3/4 seasons 😂) Comment from : Luke Rinderknecht |
The bronco shares the same frame as the new land rover discovery Comment from : QueenQutie |
The all weather tire that works just as well as any all-season tires in three seasons, and works well in the winter is the Michelin CrossClimate 2 It performs even better than the first version CR tested and lasts about 50,000 miles as well Only downside, you pay a lot for it Comment from : Sam S |
Glad to see GM make some much-needed changes to the Bolt and this new EUV - not sure I'd be so hard on range, given the EUV has a 20 lower MSRP than other more affordable (non-Tesla) options Smaller than the ID4, Mach-E, etc, but also much cheaper Options are a good thing Comment from : jauffins |
The Bolt EUV is just a small hatchback Keep in mind that CUV like the Honda h-rv is just a hatchback CUV, SUV, now EUV are just marketing terms that mean nothing and the manufacturer can apply the terms to whatever they want Even CR recommends that winter tires are much better than the extra cost of AWD so I don't understand the complaint about that The new Bolt's are the first EV's arriving that the average Joe can think about affording even without the tax credit The upcoming larger GM EV's will use the new battery technology and those will have more range I'd much rather have affordable EV's than a 500 mile range, $50K car that only the rich can afford Comment from : David McCarthy |
Consumer Reports - if its GAS, Hybrid/PZEV or FCV it is IRRELEVANT , all that matters is BEV brits a Superior Vehicle afterall Comment from : Mark Plott |
Consumer Reports - the 2022 Chevy Bolt/EUV is just a SAD Compliance car, Chevy will only produce 30,000 EV vehicles Comment from : Mark Plott |
Do any of you guys actually and personally own an EV? Comment from : Supernaut |
“Ford Escape based”? I believe it’s more correct to say that it shares a platform with the Ford Escape The two vehicles are very different Comment from : 1Drummer |
From the getgo, I will point out that I own an AWD car and three FWD cars, driven in the Mid-West I switch between summer and winter tires FWD cars with advanced traction control systems perform almost as well as an AWD car, without the complications and additional weight that come with AWD The Bolt EUV is a crossover, and like some products out there, offers no AWD, like the Nissan Kicks, Kia Soul, and the Toyota C-HR I know AWD can come in handy but I have driven uphill at parking lots with a FWD 2006 Ford Taurus with winter tires, where a C-RV, a RAV-4, and a 4WD pick-up truck could not The said Taurus also out brakes my 2012 Ford Fusion AWD, with exactly the same Michelin X-Ice tires, all because the AWD makes the Fusion 500 lbs heavier Will I buy a Chevrolet Bolt EUV? Yes No AWD, no problem Comment from : Rodolfo Lopez |
In 8 years: solar powered electric cars ☀️ 🏎 Comment from : james witte |
You say the Bolt's range was "acceptable" when it came out and is a "miss" now It was remarkable when it came out, and it's currently equal to a Model 3 Standard Range Plus (259 vs 263) Comment from : Eric Mitton |
Good tire explanation by Ryan Comment from : Ray B |
How is the bolt considered reliable if they recalled three years worth of the cars to hardware or software limit the battery so it doesn’t catch on fire? Comment from : Cesar Trujillo |
"Some of the affected Bronco Sport vehicles have either loose rear suspension modules or missing bolts, Ford stated in a release This can cause the off-road-focused crossover to be unstable, increasing the risk of a crash" - Ford Comment from : BTC909 |
I have a family members with a 2018 Bolt I took it in a road trip from the foothills in ca to the Bay Area round trip 300 miles I was disappointed on the charging infrastructure So many broken chargers and card readers not working I was hoping that Chevy would do something similar to Ford and Tesla where you can plug in the vehicle and it automatically charges you In addition the dc fast charging rate on the new bolts seem slow compared all out of the competition Comment from : RateMyCharge |
Emu at the gates Comment from : Adrian Neicu |
Hi Mike, Ryan and Gabe, GOOD SHOW!!! I've always thought that with Gabe's black hair, slight accent, and deep voice, he'd make a great supervillian in the next Bond movie!!! Are you guys telling me that if I don't want to live with a shuddering, lumpy, bumpy, unbalanced 3 cylinder engine in a $33,00000 Bronco Sport ( that's a lotta dough for an unrefined motor!! ) I have to pay $300000 bucks more for the "good" engine??? And do I still get the lousy 6-way power drivers seat that comes in the base model, when 8-way power seats are pretty much the industry standard??? NO THANKS, GUYS!!! CHAS ORVIS, CR SUBSCRIBER, PLAINVILLE, CT PS: Hey, Ryan is always talking about BIG JOHN, the CD resident chief mechanic; why can't you put him on the show sometime??? Comment from : chas o |
I would love to see an Aptera tested but I expect that there will be plenty of reviews across youtube once they start to be sold Comment from : Joe B |
Start pushing more electric cars In a country with a failing power grid! Brilliant! I'll bet those people who had no electricity in California this summer which they had a place to plug in their electric piece of krap? They should open a Tesla dealership Right in the heart of Dallas I'm sure when everything saws out and they get the lights working again theyll sell like hot cakes🥞 Comment from : Kip Paseo |
That moment when you’re on Talking Cars and totally forgot you submitted a question Thanks guys! Comment from : Malik Pollock |
The Bolt EUV is not a real attempt at an SUV, so no AWD is needed GM just wants to sell more Bolts in the next few years so that they gain some experience with EVs now in hopes to discover and iron out any issues before their next EV models The first few years of sales were pathetic and it was only last year GM decided to push enough to sell a decent number - probably after seeing Tesla's market cap blow past theirs The Bolt EUV is probably considered a simple plus-up in size variant that they could deliver to boost sales without incurring any significant expenses to alter the manufacturing line I'm not sure about reliability as I've seen some videos of Bolts with suspension issues as well as a recent battery issuebrInstead of AWD more people need to learn to sit their ass home during bad weather Honestly, just buy a police scanner and listen for all the rollovers, cars into utility poles, and the like when snow falls - even up north where DPWs know how to treat roads in wintertime Comment from : Jason Dragon |
Three wheelers?? Oh yeah where’s the Elio??? Comment from : Nicholas Arceri |
Those who want to dip their toes in EVs should consider purchasing used A 2017 Bolt which basically has the same engine and drivetrain goes for well under 20 grand Used Nissan Leafs can be found for around 5G with relatively low mileage On snow tire topic Can I store my offseason tires at your house? My place is kind of cramped :Z Comment from : Martin Smith |
Ryan, brush your hair Comment from : Scot Brown |
Why not the Sinclair 5 revive that need to be brought back since the Tech has gotten better since the 80s Comment from : Cornbreadfed Kirkpatrick |
Outerbanks / Badlands could be perfect for family members who are needing extra vehicles they tend to overuse the ones they have it's a long story they don't have the time or money to dedicate to take care properly, hopefully, things are trying to get there these and they do kind of one in Crimson and one in Blue and maybe the Sport for me in Gray? if I win a Lottery, well I'm a part of a Ford family but once in a while, a shock from a Bolt doesn't hurt either than for your feedback glad I subbed for your channel here Comment from : Cornbreadfed Kirkpatrick |
Oh, thank you I have been trying to get some questions about the bronco, without being ready to buy who has that right now, always interested in electric vehicles other than with creepy Elon attached to it there are others that have much better ideas too Comment from : Cornbreadfed Kirkpatrick |
Hi from Venezuela 🇻🇪 Comment from : Alvaro Enrique Cuello Pèrez |
The small SUV top sellers, 1 to 3 are the RAV4, Bronco Sport, and Forester Many Murican buyers will not even test drive the Japanese options, even though the Ridgeline ties the Ranger for the most North Murican made parts (including Canada) and the Bronco Sport is built in Mexico with a turbo that might reduce reliability, especially if the engine oil is not changed often enough Comment from : Jeff Ruebens |
A cursory glance at 2017 Elantra reliability shows in general, that it's very reliable One review went so far as to say it was better than Honda'sbrMaybe Malik's been getting a bad brand of coil packs? I'd definitely try another mechanic Comment from : David M |
Another cool thing that GM is doing with Bolts is free home charger install They will actually pay for an electrician to come and do it for you! Comment from : couchp0tatoe |
I don’t understand the fascination with AWD in SUVs that spend most of there time on the streets I’d rather just get another set of wheels and winter tires In a ICE SUV I’d rather take better mpg than have awd for my driving needs and I’m willing to bet for most consumers driving styles I think its mostly marketing to get people to spend more Comment from : Chris McFee |
My 8 year prediction GM will go through a series of M&A and disappear for all practical purposes but nobody will notice or care Comment from : HereIgoAgain |

Fords gonna fuck this up just watch Comment from : tmklunk |

While I know they aren't comparable vehicles just looking at that Bronco Sport interior just shows Toyota could easily be adding some functional touches to their truck interiors that would be of little expense and no risk to vehicle reliability I love my 4Runner but I look at this and just say damn, why can't Toyota include some of this stuff which appears to have actual utility Comment from : Hippie Bits |
What a zoo the track not you guys! Keep up the good work! Comment from : Jon M |
